How do I wear this work look in the winter?

I've finally found a style for work that I feel comfortable and professional in. Basically ankle grazing trousers and flat ballet pumps with a blouse tucked in. (Could find an exact photo for reference but you get the idea)

How do I wear it in winter? I usually wear long leg skinny trousers tucked into boots or wide legs over boots but I don't really want to go back to that.

Wear your ankle grazing trousers with ankle boots with a low/flat heel. Add a beautiful coat and you are there.

Ok I'll give that a go,I just can't imagine how any type of boot would work with them. I'll do some googling-thanks!

I have the same issue. What about brogues?
I struggle with the bare ankle then but am wondering about pop socks (like my mum wore in the 80s).

I just do dresses and skirts in winter.

This thread is perfect for me. I started a new job this year and have revamped my work wardrobe. I love ankle graver trousers too and was wondering how I could still wear them in the winter. Our office is quite hot so I don't necessarily want to go back to my skirt/dress and tall boots combo.

This is my work wear.
I wear pointy ankle boots, flat or healed (never naff court shoes!).
Bare ankles in spring and autum is fine, or with sparkly socks. This can really work well.

It is super comfortable and how I am dressed at my desk now!

Think very smart.
Agree with pp who suggested brogues.
Loafers also go with that look.
Could also throw on a smart cropped blazer.

LemonBreeland · 30/08/2017 09:25

Ktown where do you get your sparkly socks?

thisfalseinsight · 30/08/2017 09:33

I get my sparkly socks at H&M and Topshop! Some of them are a bit over-the-top but they do relatively subdued ones, too (e.g. black with a bit of sparkle). The sheer sparkly ones are really nice, too.

I'd do the same but with a boot like this:

I don't particularly bother about cold ankles because mine don't really get cold and I go home-car-office.

Wear boots to work and keep ballet shoes there to change into - with nude or patterned popsock things.

Elledorado · 30/08/2017 10:48

Nude knee length stockings under your trousers amd usual shoes? May not be warm enough though

Brogues or loafers would work. The difficulty is finding socks if youre not willing to go barefoot (i'm not). Primark and h&m etc do footlet type socks in either nylon or cotton. You usually have to try a few to see which ones won'tslide off after three steps!

retainertrainer · 30/08/2017 12:56

Now you're scaring me with the sparkly sock talk,I wish I was confident enough to wear something like that! Even brogues are pushing it for me...I'll start with those and maybe work my way up!

I do like the preppy loafer/brogue look,I'm quite short and I think it suits me-I certainly feel good in loafers. In my usual wide leg trousers I always felt a bit like I was playing dress up,it was never really me.

Thanks for all the ideas.

Any advice as to where to get the ankle grazing trouser?
Am struggling a bit and would love some recommendations.
More city chic than work wear IYKWIM...
thx Grin
