Pregnant people - what are you wearing?!

Uhohmummy · 29/08/2017 11:04

I'm 4 months pregnant and am struggling to fit into my usual clothes. I'm interested to hear what other pregnant women are wearing. I'm reluctant to buy summer things as the baby is due in January so I'll mostly be pregnant over autumn/winter. I also don't want to spend too much on new things I'll only wear for a bit.
Can anyone share their star buys?

Topshop maternity tea dresses from ebay. Great with tights or on their own. A long sleeved bodycon dress from next , again great with tights or on its own. Leggings by Debenham maternity. Harem pants. Finally , some t shirts from asos maternity.

I refuse to buy anymore than that!

ChickenBhuna · 29/08/2017 11:14

Look out for bundles of maternity clothing on ebay.

H and M maternity leggings that go right over my bump. They do nice maternity tops too and I wear oversized normal tops from Primark.

I never needed or bothered with maternity clothes. I just got leggings and dresses a size bigger than usual for going out. I did have a couple of pairs of maternity jeans- 1 under bump, 1 over bump. I hated both pairs equally.
My tops fitted me the whole way through, as did the tracksuit bottoms I wore round the house.

GlitteryFluff · 29/08/2017 11:23

I'm in the same situation.
Due in Jan. I've got a maternity dress I'm currently re-using from last pregnancy. My plan was to find some dresses that work in hot weather with bare legs and sandals and in colder weather with tights and boots.
But I can't find anything I like online. It's all cold shoulder or sleeveless or cut out. I don't like these (I'm plus size and like shoulders and top of arms etc covered)
So at the mo I'm living in a pair of maternity skinny jeans and plain vests with kimono type cover ups. Or just plain maternity tshirts.
I don't feel comfortable in non-maternity stuff as I just feel massive but not clear I'm pregnant so prefer showing the bump.
It's so frustrating there's hardly any maternity stuff in shops too. Keep ordering online and having to return :(

Namechangearoo · 29/08/2017 11:27

Right now? Blue pants (definitely too small for me) and a white vest top.

I'm 40+5 and extremely grumpy though 😂

On a (hopefully) more helpful thread: I have lived in maternity jeans from JoJo Maman Bebe (bought at 15 weeks and still fit me now, the elastic is amazing) and stretchy dresses from H&M (not even from the maternity section) as well as H&M's maternity stuff. It's not expensive stuff and I will continue to wear a lot of it if I ever once I give birth.

Bumdishcloths · 29/08/2017 11:28

Maternity over bump leggings from eBay - piss cheap but do the job. Otherwise I've been buying stretchy tunic tops in a size up or getting wrap dresses in a size up on eBay. Honestly eBay is the best resource imo, secondhand maternity wear can be picked up really cheaply! Bras on the other hand are THE WORST because I'm plus size (so, fat basically) and it appears impossible to buy a decent looking soft bra in a 44D that doesn't cost the earth. I'm also massively stressing about nursing bras as I'm sure I'll be even bigger by then Confused

Grimmfebruary · 29/08/2017 11:33

I'm just living in primark leggings and long t shirts from gap with my vans.

gothicsprout · 29/08/2017 11:34

I decided that life was too short to be feeling uncomfortable and 6 months wear out of something was pretty good, even if I don't reuse anything for hopeful future pregnancies. The best things I had for winter last year (baby born in February) were from:

Gap - long sleeved tops and full panel versions of their bi-stretch skinny trousers. They always have a voucher code as well so you can get 30-40% off normally. Also good for sportswear that fit over my bump comfortably until 39-40 weeks.

M&S - I had some great bodycon dresses from here that wore really well.

George/Asda - the best maternity leggings I found.

eBay - lots of bundles available, take a look in your size.

Uhohmummy · 29/08/2017 14:50

This is so helpful! Thanks for all the recommendations. This is my third DC so I know I will get huge and normal clothes in a bigger size won't work but I don't want to buy lots/spend a fortune. (Gave away all my maternity stuff after DC2).
I'll definitely have a look at ebay.
Any recommendations for good jeans?
And bras? I'm still wearing my ore pregnancy ones but really need to get new ones as I'm getting too big for them.

Hi

Just posting to say I'm well jeal you'll be pregnant over winter. I'm 33w today and sweating like a fat horse in the most billowy of little shorts and a loose cotton tee.

Re: bras...the only ones that stopped my boobs looking tubular was the M&S non wired tshirt bras x

Bumdishcloths · 29/08/2017 15:16

I've got two M&S total support bras which are super comfy - however heaven forfend if you should wish to wear anything with a nice neckline, they come up soooooo far 😂

TheLegendOfBeans · 29/08/2017 15:20

Yes, this is true. Anyone over a D cup will get "Tudor Boobs".

Uhohmummy · 29/08/2017 17:45

Haha - Tudor boobs!
I was only a B cup to start with so don't think I'm in danger of those, sadly.

Ps Good luck Namechangearoo! I was 41+6 with my first so I totally sympathise. Your little one will arrive soon and then there'll be no looking back! In the meantime, enjoy Homes Under the Hammer while you can Wink
