What to wear for a captain's dinner

I have been invited to a captain's dinner at a golf club as my husband's company is one of the sponsors but I haven't got a clue what to wear. We didn't receive an invitation as he is a sponsor so nothing to consult regarding the dress code. I've never been to an event at a golf club behind. Please can you help me!

You need to establish the dress code first. Otherwise you could look a massive tit.

Do you know anyone else going? Can you phone the golf club and enquire? From my limited knowledge, these things are fairly formal but not black tie?

No I don't know anyone else who is going. Good idea about calling the golf club thank you.

Once you've worked out the dress code let us know.

So just had confirmation, it's not black tie but 'dress to impress'.
I used to be so confident going to these events but now I'm a SAHM with two pre-schoolers and a stone heavier than the last time I attended something like this and I haven't got a clue what to wear!
