Black work trousers!

Hi

I am in desperate need of some comfy, smartish black work trousers. I'm a teacher so don't need to wear a suit or anything that formal. I have got some lovely tops from Oasis but just need some new trousers to go with them! I probably want 2 pairs that are a little bit different from each other. I've got into a bit of a clothes rut so am hoping to get out of it!

Anyone have any recommendations? I have looked in Next but couldn't find any I liked/that were comfy.

Gap bi-stretch? Or maybe some culottes for a change?

CWG17 · 28/08/2017 19:41

These are from m&s, pull on, no iron. Very, very comfy and they wash well.

Perhaps a little thick for summer but hopefully not a huge issue for a teacher given you aren't at work in the height of the hot weather.

Snap - Teacher here and I got the M&S ones too but the wide leg as really comfy. There are quite a few different styles.

KeepSmiling83 · 28/08/2017 19:44

Ooh brilliant thank you. I didn't even think of M&S!! Will have a look in GAP too!

I've got the cheapo wide M&S ones and they are very comfortable but no good on warm days in stifling hot classrooms. My culottes are also M&S and 95% cotton, so quite cool to wear on warmer days.

Banana Republic are my go to. They have long and petite fit too if you need it.

TittyGolightly · 28/08/2017 19:47

I love the Sainsbury's TU bootleg trousers. They're about £12, have 2way stretch and are super comfortable. Only in black and navy but fabulous nonetheless.

PerfumeIsAMessage · 28/08/2017 19:49

Boden Richmonds in the non bonkers colours?
I have those and Gap bi stretch both in black and navy.

Acopyofacopy · 28/08/2017 19:52

I have just invested in these. Jaeger clothes hold up really well, so I hope they're worth it!

I had a look at everything in M&S, didn't like any of their trousers. The thought of trying pull ups hadn't crossed my mind, though!

Magpie24 · 28/08/2017 19:52

Another vote for Boden. I find the 7/8 trousers quite flattering on me as I'm on the taller side (5"8)

Mango basics have a great range of simple trousers. They was really well too...no ironing needed!!

purplecorkheart · 28/08/2017 20:01

M&S are good. We have Dunnes Stores in Ireland and they do basic black trousers that are great value and ideal for work (they are online as well but not sure how expensive postage is). I have picked up the odd nice one in Dorothy Perkins but would buy in store. Also bought from Houae of Fraser and John Lewis, excellent quality but they take ages to press so I keep them for really good wear. Saw some lovely ones on Zara this week as well, fab cut and slight different.(I wish I could fit into Zara sizes).

Ttbb · 28/08/2017 20:07

M&S are usually cheap (I assume they get ruined quite easily if your are teaching little ones) and reasonably good quality with a good range of styles.

DisorderedAllsorts · 28/08/2017 23:33

I've got these from Uniqlo, really comfy and wash well

legging trousers

DisorderedAllsorts · 28/08/2017 23:34

Size up as they are a Japanese company the clothes sizes come up small

Deathraystare · 29/08/2017 09:05

I got a smart pair from (I think ) Derbenhams - actually Dorothy Perkins with lovely zipped pockets. Fit very well.

I also got two pair of pull on ones (feint ribbing) from Amazon from "My Shoe Store" or something. I did not know they were ribbed but I have been looking for them for ages. I got some original ones from Bon Marche but they no longer stock them and my friend and I were looking everywhere. I am so chuffed! Just do a search on Amazon for work trousers.
