I need a spot of help. We've been invited to a wedding but I really don't k is what to wear. I am wearing a simple knee length pale blue dress. I was thinking of pairing it with pearls and nude shoes but wtf do Ido about a hat? Do people even wear hats these days or is it all facivstors? Does it have to be blue? Would it look odd if I went for a pastel yellow or something? Dress attached

Where is the wedding held? Do you know how formal/traditional it is? A lot of people don't wear hats but it depends on the wedding really. Dress is lovely btw!

I would wear cream/ivory accessories, a hatinator would be perfect.

Hitch wedding so def need a hat of some kind. Not too formal. Upper middle class mostly so nothing OTT.

I'm going to a wedding on Sunday. I had a thread about what to wear a while ago. I wouldn't think that most people wear hats these days (although I could be wrong) and, although I have tried a few fascinators on, they don't go with my head (!) so I'm just going for a fairly fancy hair up style. If you do want to wear one, I'd go for cream/nude to match your shoes/bag. Lovely dress!

This is mine (excuse the bath):

At a UK wedding (supposedly informal but actually very much your standard fairly formal "venue" wedding with all the trimmings) only the mother of the bride and a couple of relatives of similar age wore hats or psuedo hats. Nobody under 60 wore headgear and most of the older women didn't either.

*sorry missed out part of the first sentence:

At a UK wedding ... we went a week or so ago...

You look lovely Lobsterquadrille2 Smile

Ttbb I went to a church wedding recently and didn't wear a hat. From what I remember only mothers and grandmothers of the bride and groom were wearing hats. Btw that dress is very elegant Smile

I went to a wedding this summer (not church) and only two people had a hat. No-one wore a fascinator.

Is that a Hobbs dress? I've got this one, and we've been asked to wear hats/fascinators. I'm not sure whether to go for blue or pink with mine. I love wearing hats so normally will wear one to a wedding.

Yes it's Hobbs. Their stuff is great! I like yours a lot. With your dress I would go for a dark blue facinator if your hair is light but if it dark go for pink. That way you get a nice contrast.

Thanks, yes I think Hobbs have some lovely things. My hair is light or will be when I've had my colour done!
I would go for a bright colour with your blue dress, yellow or orange would look great, what colour bag have you got?

Ttbb · 31/08/2017 11:03

That's a good idea, hadn't thought of that. I'm going bagless (two small children are coming with us).
