Do you shop at primark?

I just find things shrink/everyone has the same thing but can't help browsing.

No, I'd rather spend more and have less. To me it's a false economy.

Not atm as live abroad but am coming back to the UK next year. Planning on buying some kids clothes, if the quality is there.

Last time I lived in the UK (9 years ago) primark was OK quality, for the price.

DelphiniumBlue · 27/08/2017 14:36

Yes, for men's t-shirts, shirts and jeans, and casual joggers/shorts. They've been really good for 16 year old DS, but the hoodies don't wash so well.
However last years navy cord trousers have retained their colour and shape really well.

nina2b · 27/08/2017 15:27

No. The shop stinks of cheap dye.

confused123456 · 27/08/2017 15:28

I do now and then.

Circumlocutor · 27/08/2017 15:29

I sometimes buy socks and the odd t-shirt there but by and large it's a shop I dodge. So much polyester!

HarrietSchulenberg · 27/08/2017 15:30

Men's and kids' clothes are OK, women's are awful.

alltouchedout · 27/08/2017 15:30

Yes. For the basics almost always and every so often I find something unexpectedly lovely in a nice fabric. And tbh, I don't see an awful lot of difference in quality between them and shops that many others are very positive about- certainly nothing I've bought from Sainsbury's has lasted any better.

indigo13 · 27/08/2017 15:41

Yes I do. Some of my nicest and longest lasting garments have come from there, as well as a few that were not so good I admit. I find the quality ten times better than h&m and also M&S actually!

pinkmontana · 27/08/2017 15:45

Yes but only in the sales. I find their normal prices expensive for the quality. I have no issues with shrinkage though and I have some items bought dirt-cheap on sale which have lasted years.

WhooooAmI24601 · 27/08/2017 15:47

Socks, pants and pyjamas only. Everything else feels a bit thin and cheap.

DS1 loves their Harry Potter range at the minute, though, so we do buy bits for him occasionally.

Longislandicetee · 27/08/2017 15:48

Yes though not for a while. Usually for summer stuff that is very fashionable that I know won't last beyond a season. I then recycle to charity.

Having said that? I have bought some tees that have lasted years.

wineusuallyhelps · 27/08/2017 15:50

Yes. For work clothes (they may get ruined by working with children) and for summer t-shirts.

I don't expect anything to last more than a season.

I also buy some everyday kids' stuff there.

Ninjakittysmells · 27/08/2017 15:56

I buy knickers and vests from there - sometimes pjs too. I have to psyche myself up to go in there though, it feels like a jumble sale where I might get stabbed (might just be my local area though!)

MrsJoyOdell · 27/08/2017 15:57

I'll buy jeans in there, especially for the DC who go through the knees no matter how much I spend. Also pick up pants, fleece pjs etc. I only wear primark pants myself as haven't found any others in the style I like without spending 3x as much.

Tops, dresses etc I buy elsewhere. Usually stick to supermarkets tbh.

silkpyjamasallday · 27/08/2017 16:05

There isn't one anywhere near me, so I don't ever shop there. I've been into one once, but didn't see anything I would buy. Too much flammable material for my liking.

I like most things I buy to be cheap, but generally get things second hand rather than throwaway stuff off the high street.

TroubleinDaFamily · 27/08/2017 16:21

I bought some gorgeous thin winter knits last year, that look expensive. I bought a jumper from Mint Velvet and it looks like a dish cloth in comparison to the Primark stuff.

I am more of a Zara girl these days.

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 27/08/2017 16:25

For ds, yes. Jeans and T-shirts are incredible value and wash well and the gym gear in great too. Make up only for me.

Ampersand1 · 27/08/2017 16:25

Pyjamas are good
Cotton/lycra long sleeve baselayer t shirts are a staple
Otherwise no.....

BusterGonad · 27/08/2017 16:25

I lied, I've bought socks and pants in there for me, my husband and son!

PoppyPopcorn · 27/08/2017 16:28

I try not to as I hate the "wear it two times and bin it" mentality. So wasteful.

BayLeaves · 27/08/2017 16:31

I get the cami vests for about £1.50 in there which last years and nearly always wear one under my clothes apart from the height of summer. The fabric is thin but I don't see how that's false economy for that particular item as I wouldn't want thicker material for vests.

bengalcat · 27/08/2017 16:31

Yes t shirts , opaque tights, thongs and jumpers - cheap as chips and wash well in my opinion

MaisyPops · 27/08/2017 16:33

Some of my primark things have lasted ages e.g. ive had a pair of jeans for 10 years from there.

I get pyjamas there, socks & I swear by their tights (so much cheaper, nicer, longer lasting than M&S or other places)

But I think 90% of it is cheap stuff that you go through quickly to avoid outfit repeating on social media. So not my thing.
