Toenail disaster

Even though I'm 55 I have always had really lovely feet....until recently when after a marathon I destroyed a 2nd toenail and it is now a nasty little claw which I am going to have to get removed. This is really going to mess up my pedicures.
my tattooist friend who is incredibly talented said she can tattoo my toe to cover it all up and will do a lovely subtle design on the whole toe.
I think this will look better than a missing toenail, what do you think fashionistas?

Will the nail not grow back?

The tattoo idea sounds bit odd. I'm not against tattoos at all (I have lots) but... A tattooed toe. I'm not sure.

Could they maybe just tattoo on a new nail?

IrritatedUser1960 · 26/08/2017 22:04

No it won't grow back, I'm a podiatrist and I know I've damaged the nail bed beyond repair, the nail is now so involuted it pinches all the skin underneath and causes infections.
I was thinking something abstract like this but covering the missing toenail also - one toe only not all of them.

I've seen toenails tattooed on, they don't really work and my tattooist friend agrees.

Surely one random tattoo will draw more attention? My second time nail regularly falls off as im a runner I just paint the end of the toe like a mail until it grows back and then repeat the process! depends how much attention you pay to your feet!

My feet have to look great all the time I'm a podiatrist and I know this nail has to go unfortunately. It is beyond redemption and is extremely painful and ugly.

I think it will look better than nothing. You can buy fake acrylic toe nails & your nail tech can polish them to match the others & dry them in her lamp.

I'm a podiatrist too & I'm just imagining how painful it would be to tattoo a big toe.

Do they use emla?
