Can a fat person look fashionable on a budget?

I'm a size 22. I've struggled with my weight all my life- at my lightest as an adult I was 7 stone, I'm now at my heaviest, partially due to binge eating, partially due to medication I take, but mainly because I'm just greedy.

I'm in a massive rut clothes wise. I own one pair of leggings, one pair of leggings (complete with complimentary holes) and probably 3 vest tops that I wear under a black cardigan along with a pair of converse.

I genuinely don't know what to wear for my size or my age for that matter (I'm mid 30s).

Can anyone help a fat bird out with ideas? I have literally no money either so it needs to be majorly budget friendly!

Thank you

Absolutely, I'm an 18 and have found lovely clothes at good prices at Fashionworld.

I buy the basics there and add more expensive pieces like jackets and knitwear when I can afford it.

They do up to a 32 and currently have a big sale on. i just bought a lovely longline cardigan there for £10 reduced from £49. Everyone comments on how nice it is.

So I won a biker jacket on eBay for a fiver posted!! I got the next size up to allow me to wear something a little bit thicker underneath.

My friend also has a pair of black chelsea boots she never wears and she said I can have them so they'll be good with everything I guess?

I also bought a wine coloured slouchy top/thin jumper on eBay and a sparkly black scarf. Hopefully with those few bits I can adjust stuff I already have till I can get some more new bits.

Thank you all again so much

I love Pinteresting outfits and styles!

Your biker jacket will be a great piece. I wear mine all the time. I love it over dresses best, or pencil skirts for work.

Don't forget New Look when you're browsing. I often find their stuff to be quite good when I'm on a budget, and they do larger sizes.

Ginmakesitallok · 27/08/2017 11:06

New look curve for jeggings. I'm size 20 am have a couple of pairs.

Queenofthedrivensnow · 27/08/2017 11:12

I have a gorgeous glam (puts me to shame) colleague who is that size. She raves about that everything5poubss site.

I know because I ask her that she does well in new look at tkmaxx. She tends to wear empire line dresses over leggings or tights and the dresses are knee length. She has a kind of 50's glam style which really suits her. She dyes her hair black and wears red lipstick kind of a dita von teese palate of colours.

She also buys loads from eBay and likes a label called mistress?

I've said before - and I'm not product placing - but Krisp.co.uk stock good basics and I've checked and they do your size. I have some of these www.krisp.co.uk/womens-c1/krisp-basics-plain-longline-jersey-top-p14688?attribute%5B1%5D=102 and they wash well,

Hi OP. I am a similar size: 22 tops and 20 bottoms. I've been shopping today and I've come across 2 shops that I wouldn't usually consider. The 1st was Bonmarche! I've bought some coloured tops but they also had some maxi dresses reduced in nice colours. I then bought a navy and a black pair of slim leg trousers (size 20) in Primark for £9 each. They did have some cropped ones for £3 in the sale but sadly not in my size. I've bought all of these items for work as I needed a few new bits to update my wardrobe. Might be worth trying shops / online places that you wouldn't normally consider. Good luck. Let us know how you get on.

www.crazyclearance.co.uk is previous seasons' catalogue stock that didn't sell. I've found it an amazing help when broke but needing clothes. Prices are great. I had a quick look they've got some nice looking tops in your size. Trousers are a bitConfused in general (mmmm polyester) but worth keeping an eye on the site as they add stock often.
