Quick: is this dress really dated?

I've had it seven years. Worn it twice. Thought it might be nice to wear to a party tonight. I have a nice tan too.

Puffy sleeves though.

What do you think?

I like it, especially the pattern at the bottom.

ReluctantlyRedundant101 · 26/08/2017 18:07

I think so yes but would need to see it on x

Minniemarshmallows · 26/08/2017 18:08

It's nice. There are different things in fashion.
People have different tastes or we would all be wearing the same things.
It doesn't matter how long you've had itSmile
Wear it it's nice.

MapMyMum · 26/08/2017 18:08

I think it looks nice. Any pics of it on? And what accessories?

Jogel · 26/08/2017 18:14

I think it's a lovely dress for a party. I know what you mean about dated, I had a few tops with those ruched sleeves and they were very flattering, but they didn't seem to stay around for very long, unlike the awful cold-shoulder tops.

Jogel · 26/08/2017 18:15

Should have added that you should definitely wear it!

bloomingheather · 26/08/2017 18:18

Big sleeves are in just now (well, judging on my brief scan of the shops the other day) and I love the look of the bottom - is it embroidered? Would really need to see it on though. It's hard to get a good idea of how it would look without seeing it on.

Bluntness100 · 26/08/2017 18:21

It's a pretty colour and shape, but yes the sleeves would make me know it's age, those shaped sleeves were in fashion and very popular a long time ago.

How good are you with scissors. Could you unpick them and wear it as a sleeveless dress. That would be lovely. Are the seams good enough?

Margomyhero · 26/08/2017 18:50

I like it.

It's good to wear something that not everyone else is currently wearing. Go for it!

SesameSparkle · 26/08/2017 18:50

If it still looks good on, then wear it. Gathering is definately still in, even if you haven't seen that particular sleeve for a while.

Grawp · 26/08/2017 19:01

I like it. I think it would look good with a tan. Have you got shoes/bag/accessories that are more "on trend"? That might help too.

mydogisthebest · 26/08/2017 19:04

I really like it. It doesn't look dated to me although I must be honest and say I don't really keep up with fashion.

PookieSnackenberger · 26/08/2017 19:22

I think it's lovely - I especially love the sleeves. I think wearing the right shoes/sandals is the key to making it look current. Some barely there high heeled sandals would look great.

icecreamfairy · 26/08/2017 19:25

If it suits you, then wear it! That's so much more important than whether it's this years or last years fashion. Enjoy the party!

myusernameisnotmyusername · 26/08/2017 19:41

I also really like it. Have fun!

onemorecakeplease · 26/08/2017 20:07

I would take the sleeves off too!

KatharinaRosalie · 26/08/2017 20:28

Sleeves like that are all over this year, does not look dated at all

TicketyBoo83 · 26/08/2017 20:36

I bought a dress with sleeves like that last week.

Holidayhooray · 26/08/2017 20:46

Sorry but was that dress ever in fashion?

It's not pleasant.

nina2b · 26/08/2017 21:25

How rude.

Holidayhooray · 26/08/2017 22:02

Yes, I agree. It was rude, apologies.

The OP asked a question and I answered with my opinion but no need to be quite to brutal

Cobblersandhogwash · 27/08/2017 02:07

Oh I tend to ignore rudeness. Focus on the constructive.

I wore the dress. I had nothing else. All others in wash after holiday. Got loads of compliments!

Thought I'd take sleeves off when I had time but now maybe not.

Thanks all. Much appreciated.
