So, after reading about it here I started using coconut oil on my hair. As a sort of treatment mask for a few hours before washing, and smoothed over hair to tame frizz. I loved it and my hair looked nice and glossy and seemed in good condition.
However, it's wrecking my hair ties. It seems to have weakened the elastic, so even new hair elastics are no longer stretchy after just a day or two.
I have long, thick hair, and I need to tie it back (various reasons, baby being one...also wanting to keep hair tidy in windy weather, smart for work.. And I just want to keep it out of the way).
Has anyone else had this problem? Any suggestions for alternatives to the coconut? Or alternatives to the elastic?! Hair is too heavy to be held up by clips or bobby pins, really.
