What is the next step up from Retinoid Serum - too early for 2% Retinol??

I have been using The Ordinary Advanced Retinoid 2% (as recommended on here Smile )for a couple of weeks now and my skin is lovely, definitely more smooth and even. I will carry on with it for another couple of weeks but am already thinking of the next step up. Can I go straight to 2% Retinol? Or would this be too steep a step?
On a bit of a budget too, so products that aren't too eye-watering when it comes to the price would be great.

I use 1% retinol from the ordinary and would perhaps suggest that? Its quite strong and you need to go easy with it. 2% would be far too much imo.

fatsowhale · 24/08/2017 20:57

Just use twice as much of the 1%

Mollypolly2610 · 24/08/2017 22:33

Where do you get Ordinary products from?

Ollivander84 · 24/08/2017 22:35

The ordinary 1% retinol is the next step, it's a different formulation and more likely to irritate so go slow with it

What does Retinol do?

Thank you very much for the advice. I've ordered The Ordinary 1% Retinol.

Stephanie Nicole has a good video on her YouTube channel about The Ordinary and I'm sure she talked about which was the next step up and why. She has long videos but don't be put off - she has time stamps in her descriptions.

That's great, will definitely check her out thanks Keira .
