Ethical hair dye

Can anyone recommend a range of hair dyes that aren't tested on animals? I'm looking for semi-permanent standard (not wacky) colours to cover greys.
They also need to be easily available in the UK.
I've just been to Holland & Barrett and saw they have a Revival(?) range but of course they didn't have the colour I'm after in stock. Has anyone used that brand? Is it any good?

Surely nobody tests hair dye (anymore) since their ingredients have been in the market for decades now and their safety/effects are well known.

You could be right Cote. I'd like to think you are anyway. I have been studying the packets for the 'Not tested on animals' statement on the more common ones but couldn't see anything.

You would think that after all this time it's not necessary. Online research suggests that most popular brands still do.

I use the Superdrug Colour Radiance ones, they are leaping bunny certified. Superdrug are great for cruelty-free products.

Thanks for that ellequick. That's wonderful to know. I will check them out.
Also cruelty-free is the phrase I was looking for. Thanks for supplying that. I couldn't think of the right words!

When I coloured my hair I used to use Herbatint. It always got the colour spot-on so that may just be luck.

I guess it's the same as cosmetics if a company sells in China they test on animals so that rules L'Oreal out. Superdrug I agree are great Boots should be OK as well.

I use naturtint hair dye from holland and Barrett. All their products are vegan 🙂

Suraya henna cream is pretty good.
