How do you store your opaque tights?

Mine are in a plastic bag. Blush It serves the basic purpose of not snagging them, but no matter how I tuck them into nice perfect balls they loosen with every rummage. It always looks like a nest of snakes in there and I always take one glance, decide I can't be arsed and pull out jeans instead.

I find drawers even worse for them escaping to either end or worse, getting caught and snagged when I open and close it.

There are people who wear opaques every day! They must have some amazing storage trick I don't know about.....Confused

I roll them and sort of 'knot' them. It works fine. Is your drawer very full?

BunsForTea · 24/08/2017 11:38

Mine are rolled up separately and kept in little storage baskets in my wardrobe, one for black and one for other colours.

Henrysmycat · 24/08/2017 11:39

I think you might have too many or you have a small drawer/slice of a drawer for them? I fold them in 2, then again, then again and flip the side with the elastic (waist) to make a small like bag that holds them in. I don't have many of the same and I always have them organized by colour and thickness so I don't need to rummage. If there is a snug, I bin them. But years ago I invested in some eye-wateringly expensive ones for Varicose veins (I am on heels all day even thought I don't have Varicose veins) and 5 years on, in and out of the washing machine they are still great. They are supposed to be 140 Den but they are done in such a way that they look more like 50 den or even less. I have 5 pairs and a couple of super thin evening ones and a couple of funky ones. In total 12 pairs. That's it.

Carrier bag of snakes here too. My mum uses a hat box.

ElspethFlashman · 24/08/2017 12:13

Hat box isn't a bad idea actually..... don't have one, but still....

Fold in half, twist and knot. Keeps them contained. Then chucked in my under bed drawer in (vaguely) colour order.

rubybleu · 24/08/2017 12:57

This is going to sound like overkill, but I store them in ziplock bags, the size you use for airline liquids, and then in a drawer.

I write the denier and colour on the outside so I'm not trying to second guess if they're 60 or 120, or navy or black in the morning.

You can fit 3 pairs of 60 denier in one bag.

YorkshireTree · 24/08/2017 13:47

I just put them in the drawer. Blush

I don't have many though and usually wear leggings instead of tights.

PookieSnackenberger · 24/08/2017 13:56

I fold them flat lengthwise Marie Kondo style and line them up in one of those woven bathroom/drawer tidies from Ikea.

Perfect tights. Rest of the house looks like a bomb just went off Grin

BretonCat · 24/08/2017 14:01

Hanging shoe holder from IKEA, in wardrobe. Roll them up and knot them, then put them in the pocket. Each pocket has a different style/colour/denier. Use half the holder for tights, the other half for knickers.

skippingdolefully · 24/08/2017 14:04

I store mine on the hanger with the right outfit. It makes getting dressed that bit easier.

When putting tights away though how can you tell what denier they are to put them in the right bag?
I like the zip lock suggestion though

welshmist · 24/08/2017 14:06

I bought a canvas sort of box with dividers creating 24 mini boxes store a pair in each, it seems to work

ElspethFlashman · 24/08/2017 15:34

Omg Breton that's genius. You could put a sticker on the front of each pocket with the denier!

......of course most of my cheap tights have no indication on the waistband what denier they actually are.......Hmm

rubybleu · 24/08/2017 15:41

My tights are usually from M&S so they have tags with the denier. It's just easier in the morning to grab a bag that says Black 100 rather than sorting through a tangled pile to find them. Plus forcing yourself to put them away means that you remember to retire pairs that are too bobbled/holey.

I'm not an organised person by any stretch. Marie Kondo I am not!

Alanna1 · 24/08/2017 15:52

Fold (usually in half, sometimes thirds) and then a big loose knot. Works fine.

WhooooAmI24601 · 24/08/2017 16:04

Rolled up in a drawer divider from Ikea. It's a honeycomb shaped thing; one for tights and socks, another for pantaloons. The DCs have them in theirs and were means to store socks in theirs but when I went into DS2's room the other day he's stored 57 teeny tiny teddies in his and the socks are all over the place.

meltingmarshmallows · 24/08/2017 16:09

Mine are shoved unceremoniously in a drawer. Need to fix this though as there's a pair in there which are 100 denier, from traveling to cold counties. They're intended as a base layer.

Accidentally wore them to the office once and I've never sweated so much in my life. Had to remove them and just go bare legged in December.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 24/08/2017 16:24

Mine are rolled into a drawer, by type - black opaques, nude, coloured, hold ups etc.

AmethystMoon · 24/08/2017 16:31

Henrys can I ask the name of your thick tights that look thinner please?

OCSockOrphanage · 24/08/2017 16:31

Black ones live in the sock drawer; every other pair is hanging in the wardrobe on a four bar trouser hanger, with a few scarves.

travailtotravel · 24/08/2017 18:52

Ooh some genius ideas here. Will set to with organising this before I start my new job ...

SesameSparkle · 24/08/2017 20:50

Another Konmari variation here. I flatten them neatly and fold them in half width wise, one leg on top of the other. Then I fold lengthwise, in half, and then into thirds. Each length fold is from the toe end upwards. Then I end up with a nice neat rectangle, and lastly I turn down one corner of the top of the tights and tuck everything inside (there's a sort of bookfold/pocket left where I made the first width ways fold). This stops the whole thing unravelling. Then each rectangle is stored end on in an ikea storage box.

There was a YouTube video that's explained the whole thing, but unfortunately I can't find it right now.

ChishandFips33 · 24/08/2017 23:43

Shoe box in (IKEA Alex) drawer
Tights rolled and stood on end in shoe box and round the sides between box and drawer

an elastic band can hold their rolled shape
