Jumpsuit suitable for a wedding

Hi,

Am I too old (40...3 kids) to wear a jumpsuit?

If not, can anyone point me in the right direction?

I would like halter neck, colourful and preferably elegant 😂

Oooh watching cos me too

CaseStudyResearch · 23/08/2017 22:17

I'd say it's less to do with age and more to do with body type.

If you are petite, then they do tend to look like they are drowning you.

Phase Eight are the kings of jumpsuits. I've just bought this (at 20% off too) and it does look awesome. I'm 5ft 9, 10-12 hourglass and it accentuates the right bits and is made out of a forgiving-enough material that it skims the rest.

I'm planning on wearing it to a wedding next week.

SnowiestMountain · 23/08/2017 22:24

A phase eight type of jumpsuit would be fab!

LastMangoInPeckham · 23/08/2017 22:29

Casestudy thank you! Never heard of phase eight before. I'm tall and size 10/12 so if I can get the right one I'll hopefully look ok...never worn one before though!

No problem - if I were you and you are able to, I'd order a couple from their website at 20% off and return later. A slightly cheaper option is Warehouse, but I just don't feel like they hang as well.

I'm planning on wearing mine with a cream boxy blazer, rose gold hoop earrings and black sandals/bag.

coffeeneeded · 23/08/2017 22:35

Gosh I hope it's ok. I'm wearing one for the three (yes three) weddings I have in the next month.

I'm a size 14 and I got mine from bravissimo. I love it!

LadyWithLapdog · 23/08/2017 22:41

I've tried on a few, various brands, also for weddings, and I look dreadful. Serious case of camel toe 🐫 I'm a 12-14 and 5'7".

I really like the idea for a wedding, but I had to go for floral nice dress from Coast instead.

Circumlocutor · 24/08/2017 01:50

I think it all depends on your leg to torso ratio. They can be far too camel toe like on people with a long torso but amazing on people with a short torso and longer legs.

LastMangoInPeckham · 24/08/2017 15:36

Circumulator that's a very helpful point...I do have long torso. 🐫 is def not the look I'm aiming for 😂

Good point! Now I see myself as a big potato @ tiny toothpicks as jumpsuits don't suit me.

KnobJockey · 25/08/2017 08:25

I also have a long torso but I LOVE jumpsuits and wear them to pretty much every event I go to-do they can look fab, and are so comfy. Just be selective, never buy before you try, and make sure you put your hands above your head and inspect every angle!

I find that jumpsuits from Tesco and Mango seem to come up a little longer in the body, and New Look is definitely worth a try. Avoid River Island, they're not made for us long body sorts! Ones with a wrap front seem to come up a bit longer, and they're a bit easier to go to the loo in. If somewhere has a tall range, that would be worth trying on.

I've bought a jumpsuit from oasis for a wedding in a couple of weeks. Love it and was sold on the idea after wearing a dress to a christening a few weeks ago - which was a nightmare while trying to look after a breastfeeding baby and an active toddler (constantly conscious of the skirt riding up as I was bent down dealing with the kids)
They do tend to need a good shape and longish legs but I still have lumps and bumps which are hidden by the pattern.
Needs heels to be flattering but have found some lovely strappy sandals with a practical block heel in new look

junglebookisthebest · 25/08/2017 08:38

Oh and I'm 42!

GwenStaceyRocks · 25/08/2017 08:52

I'm slightly older than you and I have a jumpsuit. I love it. It's the perfect combination of comfortable and classy.

Kindlesarenottheonlyfruit · 25/08/2017 19:25

I got one from Warehouse, I love it (and wore it to 2 weddings in the last month) I a agree you have to try on a few before you get one in the right proportion for you. Try on a few.

LadyWithLapdog · 25/08/2017 22:26

Kindle - did you get the 3/4 leg pink one?
