Clothes you wear regularly

pinotgrigio1 · 22/08/2017 06:50

How many items of clothing do you own that you wear regularly? What are they?

I need a wardrobe revamp. There's plenty in there, but nothing fits and I always seam to wear the same 3 or 4 outfits.

I have

Trousers:
1 pair of black jeans, 1 pair blue jeans, 1 pair navy chinos.

Cardigans:
A selection of black, grey, navy and one coral.

Tops: maybe 4 casual tops which fit(ish).

I really need to update!!

I wear those joules harbour tops. Have them in most colours. Call it a rut if you will.

Your cardigan idea sounds good to me!

pinotgrigio1 · 22/08/2017 06:57

I was looking at these Joules tops yesterday. I've started an Autumn board on Pinterest and pinned one on to it.

I guess it doesn't help that I'm a size 16 with a decent sized mum tum. I've started increasing exercise so hope to tone a little. Though that doesn't help with the lack of clothes in my wardrobe!

I live in Topshop skinny jeans and a small collection of tops, mainly shirts / blouses or loose fitting t shirts (H&M, Topshop, DP, Mango, Zara).

I attempt to jazz things up with a nice necklace, or an oversize scarf when it's chilly. I wear big slouchy cardigans, too.

Summer footwear is sandals, then Converse or boots in the winter.

TakeMe2Insanity · 22/08/2017 14:58

Cashmere cardigans. They make even the dullest of jeans look better.

lurkingfromhome · 22/08/2017 15:13

These are the items I have had most wear out of (I definitely wear 20% of my wardrobe 100% of the time and have far too much that I never wear)

Black pleather skinnies
Black skinnies
White skinnies
Uniqlo cami tops, quite longline and never crease
Long wool/cashmere cardigans
A cream silky blouse
A Whistles black dress that is super comfy and goes with everything
A Cos navy dress that is much the same
Plain merino jumpers in black, grey, navy
Light summer cardigans (no fastenings) in black and navy
A grey wool wrap coat from H&M that looks much more expensive than it was
A charcoal grey blazer
A black fake fur
Couple of big grey woolly scarves for winter
Ankle boots in tan, black and grey
White Stan Smiths
Grey Adidas Gazelles

The Joules harbour tops are very forgiving on a size 16 with a mum tum. I'm the same. I wear them with skinny jeans and converse or boots.

They wash well, but don't tumble them, they do have a preference to shrink. I give them a good pull before drying on the line. They are nice weight. Not heavy, but substantial.

They are frequently on offer on the website. I don't normally pay full price.

PNGirl · 22/08/2017 16:09

My most worn things are:

Topshop Jamie skinnies in black and dark blue
Joules Harbour in navy/white and pale blue/white
Uniqlo Supima cotton t shirts in short and 3/4 sleeves (grey, black, dark green, purple, dark red)
3 x checked shirts (red, blue, black/white)
Various Gap vests in block colours
AllSaints leather jacket
A FatFace cardigan in an oatmeal colour.
ASOS boyfriend t shirts with rolled sleeves
And my trusty Dr Martens.

pinotgrigio1 · 22/08/2017 22:18

Going to keep an eye out for the joules harbour tops on offer!! I picked up a couple of pairs of jeggins today and a couple of Winter jumpers.

pinotgrigio1 · 22/08/2017 22:19

*jeggings!

Believeitornot · 22/08/2017 22:20

I'm switching to dresses. Much more comfortable than jeans. Can be worn with leggings and pumps to dress down or tights/shoes to dress up.

Squashit · 22/08/2017 22:22

Boden Off duty jumpers
Next pull on denim leggings
Slouchy cashmere jumpers

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 22/08/2017 22:24

Black and blue skinny jeans
Black t shirts in different shapes and fits
White trainers
Converse
Ankle boots
Denim, khaki and biker jackets
Jersey dresses and tube skirts
Full skirts in 'quirky' prints
Scarves

Judydreamsofhorses · 22/08/2017 22:26

I guess my most-worn items are "wardrobe basics":

Black high-waisted skinny jeans - All Saints - I have three identical pairs, plus the same in charcoal grey
Black ruched skirt - Hush
Vest tops for layering - Topshop
Striped tops - mainly Jigsaw
Black Chelsea boots - various variations on a theme
Black Stan Smiths, White Stan Smiths
Black leather biker jacket - Whistles
Blue denim jacket - Topshop

Once the weather gets colder, I will graduate to:

Leopard print faux fur coat - ASOS
Teddy fur coat - Whistles
Fine knit crew-neck jumpers - Topshop and Whistles

ApuskiDoo · 22/08/2017 22:35

Pretty similar to Judy above I.e. jeans , bretons, fine knit jumpers and stan smiths.

Judydreamsofhorses · 22/08/2017 22:49

apuski ironically, I actually mainly wear skirts during winter - but the items above are the particular items I wear most frequently. (My winter "uniform" is a-line shortish skirt with opaques, Chelsea boots and fine-knit jumper.)

wiltingfast · 22/08/2017 23:08

I wear skinny jeans/jeggings/and cotton shirts of one kind or another mostly, worn loose. Also have a boyish pair of loose jeans that I roll up at end.

H&M and Zara. Sometimes gap.

White Stan smiths and a black pair of nikes.

Am slimmish but have a fairly serious tum!

ApuskiDoo · 23/08/2017 10:58

Judy I mostly wear skirts in winter too and dresses in summer.
The above is my in betweeny look!

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 23/08/2017 11:12

Los of mentions of Harbour tops. They are so easy to wear BUT I really wish they'd do them in shades/prints of black and grey!

Here's my list again, with some brands etc

Black and blue skinny jeans - mainly M&S
Black t shirts in different shapes and fits - mostly Whistles, John Lewis and M&S
White trainers - current pair are Geox
Converse - athough I've not been wearing these as much recently
Ankle boots - I have many pairs - Clarks (lots), Hudson, Whistles
Denim, khaki and biker jackets - French Connection, Hush, Oasis, Mint Velvet
Jersey dresses and tube skirts - Boden, Whistles, Hush and Bravisimo
Full skirts in 'quirky' prints - mostly charity shops
Scarves - everywhere
Parka - Parka London
Peacoat - Hobbs

UsernameInvalid66 · 23/08/2017 18:02

Blue jeans, black jeans, cream jeans
Black scoop-neck t-shirts
Various colours of stripy 3/4 length sleeved t-shirts
Short flowery dresses over 3/4 length leggings
In winter: all of the above with a long (usually black) cardigan, also short colourful skirts with black jumper/opaques/boots.

Polkadot1974 · 23/08/2017 18:29

Lurking from home- this sounds like my ideal wardrobe. Could you link to jumpers and Cami tops please?

pinotgrigio1 · 23/08/2017 22:08

I think one of my main problems has been buying cheaper items over time which then lose their shape very quickly, and look awful. I then get rid of them. I need to invest in better quality clothes, and a selection of a certain style that suits me.

OP posts:
bananafish81 · 23/08/2017 23:42

Almost everything is black, grey, white, navy and pale blue - I'd love to be all classy in beige/tan but it's just not me

For me the bulk of my stuff is Uniqlo - good quality and great value, washes like a dream

  • Uniqlo silk touch blouses in black, navy, white and pale blue
  • Uniqlo merino wool sweaters in black, grey and navy
  • Uniqlo merino cardigans in black and grey
  • Uniqlo leggings trousers in black, grey and navy
  • Uniqlo cashmere sweaters in black and grey
  • Uniqlo smart style ankle trousers in black and light grey

 Non uniqlo stuff
  • jeans in indigo and dark blue
  • chambray shirt
  • bretons

I have a couple of jumper dresses in (gasp!) colour from &otherstories

And a black leather mini skirt

My black winter coat is All Saints, as is my beloved leather jacket

My planned autumn splurges are

  • new black trench to replace my knackered old one (I'm going mental and planning to splurge on a Burberry. Hobbs and Jaeger do beautiful trenches that are spendy but not nearly as obscene)
  • proper black leather leggings to replace the faux leather ones I wore to death for most of autumn-spring (looking at Me+Em, Baukjen and J Crew)

Shoes wise I live in:
Stan Smiths trainers (casual workplace)
Flat Chelsea ankle boots (Dune)
Black patent brogues (Dune)
Black biker boots (also Dune)

(in spring I swap the stompy biker boot for my black Angelica flats from Boden)

I don't consider base layers amongst this - so I have quite a few sleeveless white and black vest tops (H&M), uniqlo supima cotton crew and v neck long sleeved t-shirts in white and black, and uniqlo heat tech in black and white as well. I wear a base layer pretty much every day except in summer, so I consider these tops basically an extension of my underwear.

It's actually a lot less than it sounds when it's all written out like that!!

AnnabelleLecter · 24/08/2017 00:06

Biker jacket, wax jacket.
Jeans and jeggings- black and dark blue.
Plain t-shirts in grey and blue.
Converse.
Ankle boots flat and heeled.
Grey dress- it works for all seasons.

CheckingMyPrivilege · 24/08/2017 00:12

2 pairs of Joe's Jeans
For winter - long-sleeved shirt x 3
Jacket - 1 Uniqlo vest, 1 Uniqlo jacket, 1 sukajan
Shoes - I always wear the same Nike Air Max or Stan Smith
