My husband likes shiny faces...help?!

So I'm in France and buying up most of the shelves of products (no clothes, too fat) and dh muses that "I've seen a couple of women like school mum x that look kind of shiny but glowing, they look lovely". Any ideas how I achieve the dewy look? I'm currently greasy and haggard all at once! Highlighter? Blusher? No powder? Posh genes? School mum is minted...

Wow! I didn't mean to create such a furore. I'm slightly scared now! It wasn't my intention to ask how to look like the other woman. It was a throwaway comment by dh that it was a look he thought was nice while was talking about the beauty products I was interested in - he was asking what serum was for an said "I tell you what's a nice look- not seen many women with it but it's that kind of shiny look" is more or less what he said and I was musing what it might be hence the post to ask. Doesn't mean I'm striving for a dewyface but I like trying new stuff (for me- no one else)
I likely worded my post all wrong sorry. I really do plough my own furrow on all things looks related including my weight which I'm going to change - again for me. I've got a bit porky on baguette and wine - again my choice. I wouldn't be happy buying clothes right now but more than happy to plunder the shelves of creams and potions

Hoping people come back and read this update. I type and post before thinking how it reads and didn't think there would be any replies!

Oh OP you certainly don't need to apologise to anyone! People are always trying to find sinister behaviour where there is none.

NancyJoan · 21/08/2017 08:41

You need things that have words like luminous, and radiance in the name. I use the Armani Luminous Silk Foundation, and then brush over an Hourglass Powder. Between the two I end up with the look your DH describes.

Sparkletastic · 21/08/2017 08:43

Could well be the Botox shine as a PP said.

ChardonnaysPrettySister · 21/08/2017 08:46

Take a look at Nam Vo make up artist.
She has an instagram and Net a porter videos.
Now that's a woman who likes a shiny look.

TealStar · 21/08/2017 08:47

No need to apologise OP. Now have you checked out that Mario Badescu spray I recommended? The stuff is worthy of a thread in itself (if you like having a shiny face)

TealStar · 21/08/2017 08:51

NancyJoan, just been checking out your recommendations as have heard good things about Armani make up. That hourglass stuff looks good; which one do you use?

NancyJoan · 21/08/2017 08:59

Teal, I have this, but mainly use the 2 lighter colours (left and middle), which are Dim Light, Incandescent Light. When it's used up, I will just buy one of those on its own, I think.

The Armani is WONDERFUL. I have tried a lot of foundations, but always come back to this, have worn it for about 15 years and never found a better one.

Floisme · 21/08/2017 09:02

Op I have no advice to offer but I think it's nice that you and your husband chat about this kind of stuff. I don't talk about make up with my husband cos I'm not that interested in it but I do like talking to him about clothes. I should warn you we are both immensely shallow.

Starlighter · 21/08/2017 09:03

I can't hear the word shiny now without singing the Moana song: SHINY! Grin

TealStar · 21/08/2017 09:34

Thanks nancy I like the idea of experimenting with different finishes.

Fruitboxjury · 21/08/2017 09:38

I think also getting your primer / base coat right looks more natural. Try elemis pro radiance illuminating flashbalm or heliocare 360. A Good foundation with luminescents in is Lancôme Teinte Miracle

MineKraftCheese · 21/08/2017 09:41

Hey OP thanks for coming back and explaining. Sounds really normal to me, I often ask DH's advice on things and he might say things like that. So I might say "oh I'm thinking of dying my hair blonde what do you think?" and he might say "great! I really like that kind of blonde Danaerys has in thrones" and I might go "yeah that is an amazing look" and then come on here asking for advice on how to achieve it.

I don't think that is anything other than a healthy relationship Confused

I want to glowy shiny look too! Make Up Revolution highlighter palettes are the shit

Also not displaying your pants Grin

DearMrDilkington · 21/08/2017 11:07

I'd just cover my face in baby oil and ask him if I'm shiny enough for him.

cheeky sod.

BusterGonad · 21/08/2017 19:21

Just a quick one, is Guerlain

 • *Météorites Powder Compact

Any good? I fancy treating myself!

ApuskiDoo · 21/08/2017 19:34

Tell him Clarins Beauty Flash Balm will make his face lovely and shiny if that's the look he likes.

SerfTerf · 21/08/2017 19:36

That too lyn Grin

Judydreamsofhorses · 21/08/2017 19:43

buster I think the Meteorites balls are better than the compacts in general, more glowy, less sparkly. I got mine four years ago and they're still going strong, so a good investment.

StopBrushingMyHair · 21/08/2017 19:50

I think there's nothing wrong with expressing an opinion on liking a highlighted/glowy look; it's straying onto slightly dodgy territory for him to relate it to another Mum on the school run. He was probably just trying to describe the look better but if I said to my dh "I like the pumped-up biceps look... like Jack, Sam's dad"... he would raise an eyebrow and think I was trying to wind him up, and he's not even the jealous type.

Meteorites is amazing but super-glittery so I tend to use it for night time.

Hourglass highlighters and blushes are lovely too.

I've just discovered Beauty Pie and their Pro Glow drops are genuinely amazing. I mix mine with foundation and it gives a sort of "rested" look without making me visible from the moon.

Mulch · 21/08/2017 19:54

Bodyshop does a great highlighter and contour kit
