Does this look like a nightie?

Should I keep this summer dress or does it look too much like a nightie? I could shorten the back to the same length as the front.
The side view looks a bit twisted as I couldn't get a photo any other way.

No. Not at all.

NomDePlumeReloaded · 18/08/2017 16:48

It doesn't look like a nighties but would benefit from an iron.

NomDePlumeReloaded · 18/08/2017 16:48

*nightie

Audreyhelp · 18/08/2017 16:49

Really like it

Ginmakesitallok · 18/08/2017 16:50

Agree with nomdeplume - once it's ironed it'll be fine, not nightie like.

SaS2014 · 18/08/2017 16:54

Yeah I agree with pp. Doesn't say nightie to me at all!

Fekko · 18/08/2017 16:55

Nope.

TickledOnion · 18/08/2017 17:02

Oh I was sure you were all going to say it looked like a nightie Grin. I'll give it an iron.
Do you think I need to shorten the back? I need to see up the gaps between the buttons as it gapes badly when I sit down.

Sew up not see up.

I really like it. I possibly would shorten the back- I think it would look fine a bit longer than the front, but it's quite a big difference at the moment.

thatorchidmoment · 18/08/2017 17:24

Run a steamy iron over that and it will be lovely. Wear with a statement necklace and pop a cardi over the top on a cooler day.

Take up the back if you want to but I don't think it's necessary. It's obviously meant to be longer. Ps: love your sandals!

BunloafAndCrumpets · 18/08/2017 17:33

Looks lovely and also love the sandals!

lifestoshort · 18/08/2017 17:34

No it's nice but looks too big for you few sizer smaller may be Smile

Fairylea · 18/08/2017 17:35

I have those sandals - they're Tesco aren't they? I love them Grin

LoniceraJaponica · 18/08/2017 17:39

It doesn't look too big. I think it is meant to be loose fitting. I agree that it needs an (unmumsnetty) iron.

TickledOnion · 18/08/2017 17:39

I love my Tesco sandals too!
It's a small from gap which is weird as I'm size 12-14. I think any smaller would gape.
Good to know I can where sort dresses. I've never tried one on before. Smile

OP posts:
TickledOnion · 18/08/2017 17:40

Wear shirt not where sort!

OP posts:
chips4teaplease · 18/08/2017 17:47

Needs to be shorter, front and back. Yes, stitch to prevent gaping. Ditch the tie belt. Open the neckline a little lower. Wear it without jewellery, as if you don't care if you're dressed or not. Wear it as if you're so cool those trivialities don't matter to you.

skyzumarubble · 18/08/2017 17:48

It doesn't look like a nightie but I had the ability I would make it one length.

Love sandals too!

BackforGood · 18/08/2017 17:51

Don't think it looks like a nightie at all.
I think shirt dresses are quite a casual look, not particularly to my taste, but this isn't nightie looking. Smile

Dina1234 · 18/08/2017 17:52

I would reccomend evening out the back hen but otherwise it seems fine.

Scribblegirl · 18/08/2017 17:58

I think it's fine (but then, I did actually once a bazillion years ago go clubbing in a silk slip that was meant to be a nightie so I'm probably not the best person to ask) Blush
