Going to 'real' shops tomorrow for jeans...

Want to experiment with different styles, but where has good quality denim that isn't £££ (happy to pay up to £60 but be happier at £40 per pair).

Thought M&S? Next? Topshop? Any others?

Main criteria is reasonably high waisted and that holds shape well (doesn't bag at knees etc). Happy to play around with styles (skinny/mum/boyfriend etc).

Thank you.

I've had unexpected success recently with jeans from zara.

Sunnydaysrock · 17/08/2017 23:11

I love my jeans from Oasis.

AnnaT45 · 17/08/2017 23:12

Topshop Jamie. Very flattering

AgentProvocateur · 17/08/2017 23:16

I love girlfriend jeans from Gap. They're probably meant to be looser than they are on me, but I'm short and fat and they fit like a dream.

SleepingBooty · 17/08/2017 23:17

Skinny, Eden at Dorothy Perkins

TheFaerieQueene · 17/08/2017 23:17

It really depends on your figure, if you want stretch denim one the style you like.

musicalmama · 17/08/2017 23:32

Jamie jeans from topshop! They feel really tight when you try them on but they make you look amazing once worn in for a day.

Queenofthedrivensnow · 18/08/2017 00:13

Next slim and shape skinny jeans are amazing and I'm
Never impressed with next! I have them in 4 colours I will buy more think they are £45.

Methenyouplus4 · 18/08/2017 08:03

Thank you all. I usually wear skinny but recently buy a pair of mum ones (when on holiday&realised I had forgot to pack any trousers!) from Next&love them.

It's more that I want to go into 1 or 2 shops& try a few styles in each, knowing the denim is reasonable quality.

Another vote for Jamie from Topshop - even though I feel like an ancient relic when I am in there!

LockedOutOfMN · 18/08/2017 10:03

Another vote for FatFace. Bought some at the airport when desperate and have since bought two more pairs. Excellent quality and have washed and worn brilliantly, keeping their shape. I also like the indigo colour.

Deathraystare · 18/08/2017 10:49

Dorothy Perkins, Monsoon.

DandelionAndBedrock · 18/08/2017 10:53

DP bought himself a new pair of jeans from Next the other day and they can be tumble dried! I was very surprised (haven't bought new jeans in ages).

I find in terms of fit, the New Look high waisted ones are really good for me (giant bum and hips/thighs), but they aren't 'proper' denim so probably no good for you.

DandelionAndBedrock · 18/08/2017 10:54

Forgot to add - are you near a Uniqlo? I find they wear well.

fauxhito · 18/08/2017 11:36

Another vote for zara - they have so many styles and the Embrace skinnies I bought recently are fab. Try as many on as possible

scrubthedeckandmakeitlookSHINY · 18/08/2017 13:37

Topshop Joni. I find Jamies too thick and heavy.

ktjb39 · 18/08/2017 13:43

I bought some gap leggings ones yesterday - they are fab! As soon as I tried them on I thought "where have these been all my life?"

Methenyouplus4 · 19/08/2017 21:59

Just to update.

Tried the H&M ones linked, but they had strange white lines running through the denim. I looked at other pairs to see if it was a flaw but they were all the same?

Tried Topshop Jamie, they were pretty flattering but defo more jetting than stuff demi, which isn't really what I was after. I was a bit disappointed as pretty much every other Jean they had was ripped/frayed hem etc.

Sadly DH got bored so I never got to any other shops but my quest continues.

NB- No, sadly don't have a Uniqlo near us&only GAPs are outlet stores which are very hit and miss.

Watching with interest. I nipped into Gap the other day for emergency jeans. They stock nothing over a size 12-14 (I'm a14-16) and long length in anything other than their flagship stores or online.
