What are the key shapes and fabrics? What sort of heel?

My children are finally out of baby stage / youngest starting school and I need to get out of the mums uniform of skinnies and tunics.

I got September Vogue and it was infuriatingly vague but from memory some of the main things were:
Tailoring
Trouser suits
Slightly oversized shapes
Every trouser width you can think of - some ultra long and some ankle length
Corduroy
Velvet - although they said that last year
Lots of berry colours, rusts and reds
Mahoosive earrings
Kitten heels
Chunky heels
Framed handbags which you carry by the handle like a 50s housewife Hmm

If you can find the thread called, 'Can we talk about autumn' (or something similar) there's lots more discussion on there.

Comfortable wear that matters.

allfurcoatnoknickers · 18/08/2017 12:44

As far as I can tell, the 80s are back with a vengeance. Lots of high waisted drapery trousers and cone heeled boots.

On the streets.... this apparently....

So what is fashionable this Autumn?
WhereAreWeNow · 18/08/2017 12:57

Oh god, I hate those so much squashit (apologies to anyone who's got a pair).

Red is in apparently.

rightknockered · 18/08/2017 13:02

Structured tailoring
extra long sleeves and bright colours
red
big earings
box shaped bags apparently
Either straight ironed hair, or big frizzy curls Confused

WindwardCircle · 18/08/2017 13:04

Oversized, tailoring, trouser suits, berry tones, big earrings, chunky heels and velvet you say? Add in floppy hats, pendants on black cords and large silver belt buckles shaped like flowers and it'd be 1990 all over again.

ShmooBooMoo · 18/08/2017 13:35

balloon and flared sleeves

MrsPear · 18/08/2017 13:43

Oh now berry red I can get on board with - suits my colouring. Tailoring yes too - I am so fed up with jeans.
windward I was thinking the 90s with that list! No longer a teenager or have that figure
