Facial sunscreen and BB cream - going 'clumpy'

Following some suggestions for a facial I received on a previous thread (thanks Smile) I bought some La Roche-Posay Anthelios XL anti-shine.

I found that when I applied my Garnier BB cream +blur on top they kind of reacted with each other and went 'clumpy'.

At the recommendation of someone who uses Heliocare advanced XF gel under their foundation I tried that. But I find it has the same effect (though possibly not quite so badly).

Is this a common problem? Am I going to have to try changing my BB cream (which I love)?

I am 51 with pale skin that is generally pretty good - I don't need/want a lot of coverage I just want to even up my skin tone.

I know there are versions of sunscreens that have colour in them but I fear that they will be too orangey for my pale, cool toned skin. So I think sunscreen with a BB cream or very light foundation over the top is the answer but happy to be proved wrong.

Any suggestions for combinations of sunscreen and light BB cream/foundation that work together OK?

Or for a pale cool toned sunscreen with colour?

It seemed to be fine under my W7 featherweight foundation but it's got more of a watery texture, bottle has a dropper top. I do have the garnier bb cream but i've not tried that on top of the sunscreen to knows if its the combination that's the issue.

Sounds like it might be the silicones of bb cream reacting with water/alcohol in sunscreen causing 'pilling'? Likely to be the bb cream but check ingredients of both. You could try letting sunscreen dry for at least 10/20 mins to see if that makes a difference.

I don't have any recs for bb cream. Sorry!
