Hi all!

I'm totally at the end of my tether with my acne scars, I have no confidence and some nights when I take off my makeup and look in the mirror I get so upset I cry. I split with exp over a year ago and I don't even make eye contact with other men as I'm scared there only looking at my scars

In the photo I am wearing:

  • Benefit moisturiser
  • EL the smoother
  • benefit porefessional
  • EL double wear foundation
  • EL double wear conceler
  • Benefit Erase paste
  • Benefit play stick
  • benefit hoola bronzer
  • benefit highlighter

And I still look a mess 😔

Any advice on anything to hide these awful scars?

Mine's the same and worse in parts. I'm using the Paula's Choice 2% (something, can't remember the chemical in it but its been recommended here loads of times)which is definitely making a difference, although I've been using it for around 6 months now.
It strips the higher layers and cuts through the oil and encourages skin renewal. Its a chemical exfoliator.
I'm definitely feeling smoother without any make up and it reduces red areas too.

Thankyou for replying, that sounds good! Do you just put it in at night or can you wear it under makeup in the day?
Scarring is totally rubbish isn't it?! PCOS has a lot to answer for Angry !!

I just use it at night with cotton wool. I think you can use it during the day too but as it strips your skin, you need to be careful in the sun and wear sunscreen.
I only use it once a night.
When I stop using it, I'm on holidays right now and haven't used it in a week, my skin has become very oily and bumpy again. So it may upset the balance of your natural oils but the benefit is worth in, in my opinion.

It doesn't look a mess at all OP! If I saw you out and about it wouldn't even register, I promise. Your skin looks lovely, young and flexible. Please don't cry over it, you really don't need to!
Blemish prone skin would never put me off a person btw.

I'm currently using Avène Triacnéal Expert (contains retinaldehyde and glycolic acid I think) to fade some red marks from a skin catastrophe earlier this year (bloody pill) and it's amazing stuff. It's slow but you can see the progress from the first few days. You can get it at Boots.

Have you tried Elemis Dynamic (used to be called Trienzyme Resurfacing) face wash. I had some bumpy scarring and odd texture at the sides of my chin that it completely cleared over time. It won't remove pitted scars but I found a drastic improvement in my skin with continued use. There are plenty of online reviews - that's what made me try it out in the first place. You can apply it and leave it to work for 10 mins before rinsing and it acts like a mask for quick results. The Elemis Lavender Healing mask is also lovely.

I also think fewer products/make-up and no highlighter or anything with sparkle as this just accentuates texture. I think a light matte foundation and translucent powder when necessary is best or mineral powder foundations applied lightly.

Thankyou for commenting! I'm going look online at all the suggestions, I suppose there's no overnight fix and in time with one of those products they will fade. I'm 27 in two weeks so I just feel like bad skin is a teenage problem! Smile

Have you looked at microneedles or dermarolling? Friend had it done at a salon for a surgery scar. It's meant to be good at this sort of stuff.
