Best Bretons?

Have pared my wardrobe right back to (something close to) a capsule wardrobe, and what I’m missing is a good slouchy breton

I’ve got a couple of fitted stripey tops, but would love a looser fit proper breton

Who does the best Bretons?

I’ve read on a few threads that Boden bretons are crap quality and overpriced - should I steer clear?

Baukjen looks like the kind of fit I’m after - I’ve never bought from Baukjen, anyone got any experience of them?

This one by Sea Salt also looks like it might fit the bill - again, I’ve never bought from them before. Price is decent, what’s their quality like?

The sea salt ones are lovely quality BUT they are very cream in colour. I'm looking for a white one not cream so I sent the sea salt ones back.
My friend swears by Boden ones.
The Joules ones look nice too.

I adore the Seasalt Bretons - they're made from a nice thick cotton that you can really feel the quality in. I also highly rate Joules for the same level of durability.

As a side note, I'd steer clear of Crew Clothing's offerings - I love a lot of their stuff, but their Bretons just don't wear well (which is a shame because they're lovely in cut and fit).

Gap have some nice ones on sale too. Proper boat necks too.

My best ones are from J Crew (but bought from US in sales, although the U.K. Sales can hold some gems too). Very thick cotton, wash and wear exceptionally well.

I think the ultimate are from ?St James, the French brand. Don't know if J Crew still stock then as well.

I rate jigsaws Bretons highly. Maybe not slouchy enough but beautiful quality.

This jigsaw one looks a lot like the baukjen one, but cheaper. I think the one I've got might be a lighter weight version of this and it's great.

I've ordered and returned from all of seasalt, Boden, joules and baukjen, without issues. Quality and customer service at seasalt is excellent.

I like the Boden tops. Good quality thick cotton.

Joules, Seasalt, Boden are lighter but nice colours. I'm a bit addicted to Bretons!

My best one ever is from Zara.

Love me my Boden ones but they are more fitted (and in such beautiful colours). Good quality. I've also had a good few Cos Breton-esque tops over the years which have been less fitted and really good quality.

Re: GAP, I have two of their boat neck tops, one in white and one stripey, and I absolutely LOVE the fit - though looking for a classic white / navy and navy / white breton, haven't seen any in GAP but I'll take a look

I love my uniqlo one. Barginous price, decent thick fabric and looks great one. Replacing mine after two yeara only because my neckline has been ruined by kids pulling at it. The fabric has not pilled or gone out of shape at all.
