Has anyone used balayage when going grey?

My greys are isolated rather than solid roots at the moment, but the stress of house moving has definitely upped the quantity of them over the last 2 months! Including a few which are right in the front of my hairline. I'm otherwise naturally a mid-brown colour.

I don't mind the greys (which seem to be coming in as quite nice pale silver), but I'd been planning to have balayage done once we've moved and I can afford to go to the hairdresser again.

I'm now wondering whether it might be a good way of going through the transition from brown to grey. Has anyone tried this?

I haven't tried it as have no greys but just wanted to say done well I think it could look great!
I have mid brown hair with ashy grey blonde balayage and I love it. It's so maintainable with growth too.

I've been thinking about how to avoid getting in the cycle of constantly re-dyeing root growth, as my hair grows quite quickly. I'd planned to get balayage keeping my mid brown roots (with the odd few silvers!) and tapering to blonde at the ends.

Then I wondered if actually the blonde lengths would be a good way of helping blend in the silvers as they develop, so that I can gradually cut/ lighten up until it's all turned. Assuming that it all goes pale silver I'm tempted to get the ends done in a darker blueish grey as I think it could look quite good - no idea how long it will take to all go grey though!
