Another wedding guest - sorry, but I'm in deep despair! And it's this Saturday!

OK, it's for Saturday (as in 3 days' time) and I live in the middle of nowhere.
No hats, wear your summer dress code. I'm too tall for regular dresses and a size 18. Options are: grey lovely palazzos with a floaty top, statement cuff and statement George Jensen earrings; navy/white polka dot dress I've worn before, buy new shrug etc to make it different from when I wore it with navy; buy random stuff tomorrow.

Are palazzo trousers OK for a wedding (not morning suits or anything, country theme)? Is it OK to wear a dress I've worn before? I know the answer to both questions is probably no.

Any ideas for a (mid calf on a tall person) dress? None of that shiny polyester stuff please, and I really don't do floral, as I realised while standing in Monsoon in a lovely coral floral dress - just not me.

Aargh. Seen so much I like - it's just all black, structured and not floaty wedding stuff.

I think that navy dress and new shrug sounds fine.

Buy a fascinator and you are set!

PerspicaciaTick · 09/08/2017 23:15

I would go with the trousers, they sound lovely and it sounds to me like you like that outfit best.

Wear what you like best! My mil wore trousers to our wedding. She doesn't like skirts. She looked great. I really, really didn't give a monkeys what my guests wore so long as they looked smart and had made an effort.

I wore black trousers to last two weddings I was at.

therootoftheroot · 09/08/2017 23:21

I am also going to a country wedding on Saturday and I am wearing trousers and a top with a fancy coat on top

therootoftheroot · 09/08/2017 23:21

I am tall and an 18/20

annandale · 09/08/2017 23:24

I think the trousers sound lovely. Only concern is will they get muddy if it's a very country venue? Take wellies if so.

goingmadinthecountry · 09/08/2017 23:26

Love my grey trousers. I'll wear them then - thanks for humouring an over-thinking middle-aged wedding guest!

I was at a country garden-party wedding on Saturday and there were a few women in palazzo pants and I think 4 women in wide-leg jump suits. Gorgeous, they were. Wear the palazzos. And have fun!

MinesaPinot · 10/08/2017 13:58

Sorry, a bit late to the discussion but y y y to the palazzos outfit - sounds fab.

Last wedding I went to several women were in trousers or wide legged jumpsuits too. Looked lovely as well.
