I am going to Menorca at the end of next week- I have been before, but not for almost 25 years Shock I no longer have a clue what I need for that kind of holiday in terms of clothes and other girly essentials. It's only a week, and I won't be doing any major night-life stuff as am with dd who is 13.

I'm just finishing a 6 week residential summer school position so am knackered and will have 24 hours to buy stuff between finishing and going!

TIA!

I'd take 3 lots of swim wear and 3 Jersey strappy dresses for daytime at the pool or beach. 2 pairs of shorts and a few nice sleeveless cotton tops for daytime exploring.

In the evening i like printed tapered trousers and a silky cami or a smarter dress.

Comfy sandals for day, metallic sandals for evening.
Beach bag, nice clutch for evening, few pairs of statement earrings to dress up outfits, big sunglasses.

Have a lovely time

Facepacks, decent moisturiser, exfoliator, haircare stuff - deep conditioner that you leave in. Nail varnish.

None of it needed, but after a day in the sun if you've time to kill its quite nice to pamper yourself.

DD and I have just returned from a similar holiday, I took a fair bit but ended up wearing only a few things - our resort was quite casual though.

My list would be:

  • Comfy trousers eg harems, loose jeans plus vest, hoodie (essential if you're sitting under the aircon on the plane) and light trainers eg Converse to travel in.
  • 2 x swimwear - mine are mix and match: black bikini top with detachable strap, black bottoms, black and white stripe tankini top, black and white stripe bottoms
  • Black cotton sarong
  • 3 x shorts - denim, black jersey and black and white loose, patterned
  • 5 x vests - black strappy, black, grey, charcoal, khaki
  • 2 x loose vest dresses (black, khaki) for going out
  • 2 x jersey maxi dresses (black, grey patterned) also for going out
  • 1 x grey Havianas, 1 x flat brown leather ankle tie sandals
  • Straw trilby type hat
  • Beach basket and small leather cross body bag for evenings/trips

I got most of my stuff from H&M or supermarkets - it all goes together and none of it was expensive so no worries about sun cream stains, if they last this summer I'll have had my money's worth. I never spend a lot on summer stuff especially for holidays.

I took my DD to an all inclusive in Mallorca at about the same age. We had a lovely bonding time :). To be honest, all I used was a couple of pairs to loose linen trousers for the evening, with three different tops, each worn twice. Then swimwear and cover-ups for during the day. Soft Animal flip flops got the day, and sparkly fit flops for the evening. And lots of books! But we knew we didn't intend to stray from the resort - I was recovering from surgery and it was planned as a blast of R and R before I went back to work.

Excellent, thank you! Have got a H&M just up the road from work so will go and rummage tomorrow afternoon! Nice idea about the girly pampering as well- and my face could certainly do with it after 6 weeks of boarding school food!

(last time I did a package tour you still needed to remember to buy film for your camera! Grin)

I'm just back and took

4 bikinis and 3 cover ups plus flip flops for pool

3 dresses for evenings worn in rotation

1 pair shorts and a couple of smarter tops

1 pair evening sandals

That was it. Was plenty.
