I am going on a trip to the caribbean soon where I will need to dress up a bit for dinner every night (smart casual), I am at a loss as to what sort of things I could wear. I am bit stuck in a rut (my default would be nice top with wide leg linen trousers and sparkly sandals) its all so dull and I haven't really changed it for years.

I am 5'8, UK size 12, late forties, dark curly hair and eyes and an autumn in colouring. Figure is OK but I am not a fan of my fat knees!

Anyone fancy giving me some ideas to help jolt me out of my rut...

Nice midi dresses are always nice. Bardot dresses are flattering.

You won't get me trying to talk you out of wide legs. I love, love, love, love them and I'm really pleased they're back.

There are some slightly new shapes around e.g. these Me and Em tapered ones which I really love though not seen them for real.
Or these cropped ones
Or M&S Autograph have got these which look a bit 40s.

I know Cos isn't everyone's cup of tea but they've got quite a few different shapes and I think their sale might still be on.

Or if you still prefer your usual trousers, you could just freshen them up with different shoes e.g. swap the sandals for plimsolls or brogues.

Have a lovely time.
