Suede Jacket

Is suede a good buy? Or will I worry about rain, etc that I won't use it often?

I have two suede jackets, baby blue in the River Island sale, bargain and a dark yellow from Tk maxx. Also have a ten pairs of suede boots. I bought a suede protection spray and coated them all in that. But I do worry about them getting ruined.
