And at least it looks better on the model. Much more casual, although still made from synthetic fibres. Not as tent-like and it's quite cute at that length. Wonky hem though.

Dress

I still wouldn't buy it, FGS why won't this dress die?

I think it has died now - or at least your link doesn't work?

Bluntness100 · 07/08/2017 08:49

Link works for me.

I think that oneis also better than the m&s one, it's a better material, shorter, doesn't have the weird back and less voluminous.

However still not for me...

BumWad · 07/08/2017 11:39

Much nicer than the m&s. Better material and length, the sleeves aren't as ridiculous either

SarahJonesS · 07/08/2017 11:40

I think it's quite nice. At least it's fitted so a much more flattering shape

34AQuid · 07/08/2017 11:45

Not nice. Even the grey marl one is horrid.

Floisme · 07/08/2017 12:50

That fabric is probably really clingy - I bet even the model is holding in her stomach - so I don't think it would be any more flattering than the M&S version.

I think the only way you can make it look good is to use a fabric in a decent weight, so that it hangs properly, plus a shit hot pattern cutter. That would mean charging a serious amount of money but I don't see the point of trying to copy it on the cheap. There are some things the high street is better staying away from.

Bombardier25966 · 07/08/2017 14:12

@Floisme, watch the video, doesn't look clingy at all. It has a nice swing to it.

Not for me but infinitely better than the M&S one, and could look nice on a taller, younger type.

Floisme · 07/08/2017 14:43

I can't get the video to work Bombadier so I may be wrong. It certainly looks a lot like that slubby fabric they use for cheap T shirts and they are pitiless. I suppose you can always reinforce with steel underwear!

AmyOb · 07/08/2017 14:49

Oh yes. It looks good on the video. I like its color and kind of drops well on the body. I like its sleeves too. Since its not a fitting design, you actually don't have to worry on the extra flesh showing. Wink

TheFairyCaravan · 07/08/2017 14:50

The fabric is actually really nice. I've got lots of dresses and a couple of skirts made out of that softspun fabric Gap does. It doesn't cling at all.

Floisme · 07/08/2017 14:54

Fair enough then I will withdraw that comment!

neveradullmoment99 · 07/08/2017 14:56

I really like the gap one! Beautiful colour, much nicer shorter. I would buy it!
