A lovely dress reminiscent of my great-grandmother's nighties, which handily doubles as an easter chick costume...
And this delight, which is ok on the hanger but on an actual person looks... wtf?

Who buys this stuff?!

£55 for that monstrosity?

Come on M&S, own up that you're trolling folk now

Casmama · 06/08/2017 14:58

The shocking thing about that dreadful yellow dress is that there are 21 reviews indicating at least 21 people have bought it or at least liked it enough to try it on Shock

I was in a pretty big M&S yesterday and it was like a shit 1980s jumbo sale. Aside from the sale racks being rammed right as you walked in and lining the main thoroughfare the new stuff was absolutely awful!

You could spot a few things that looked promising but when you got closer you noticed the nasty fabric or a wtf-frill or cut-out section making them into jokes.

M&S always used to have at least a few really solid things worth buying, now nothing!

The yellow number is 100% polyester too !! Sweat-tastic !

MissMoneyPlant · 06/08/2017 15:44

MoveOn To be fair, there were some nice dresses as well. But stuff like this seems to be slipped in as a joke!
You're right about the almost-ok-apart-from-weird-feature clothes though! Like someoe else wandered in at the design stage and sabotaged the designer's otherwise nice work.

I always look at these threads, hoping to be able to say, Actually, I really like it. Sigh.
I understand m&s has lost its basic demographic over the years (middle-aged women content from the age of 35 or so content to drift into the pleasure of an estimated waist pair of beige slacks), but I just don't understand what they're doing. As others have said: frills! Ruffles! Asymmetric hems! With things dangling off them! If I were them I'd stick to good quality basics - their cashmere is still good and reasonably priced, stuff like that.

Elasticated waist!!

It's down to slavishly following the year's newest fashions.

We've been telling them for years to stick to the classics that they do well, but they prefer to have so many 'fashionable' clothes left on their rails for some ridiculous reason.

It's not like the primark types even go in to M&S, I don't get it at all, it must cost them an effing fortune.
