Hi all,

I need of some self-love lately so I am looking for inspirations.

What beauty or fashion related thing makes you feel fantastic?

For me I'd say a new pair of high heels and a long, luxurious facial score pretty high up in my list! If only I could afford these two things on a daily basis Grin

My expensive sunglasses!!
Prescription ones -
Hair tied up doesn't look half bad with shades on!!

NearlyChristmasNow · 07/08/2017 14:19

Losing a stone or two - I may still be a size 14 short-arse, but it makes me feel like I'm up on the catwalk.

ShotsFired · 07/08/2017 14:24

@MaQueen My Steve Madden, black cage heels.

Are they like this? Don't your feet sort of squish out all the holes? How do your little toes not get snagged at the side?

I only recently realised there were two Steve Maddens around. This is the one I know - I think he must be quite different Grin

Queenofthedrivensnow · 07/08/2017 14:27

I get sunbed tans - so shoot me

Liiinoo · 07/08/2017 15:41

Short, dark, sparkly OPI gel nails. Bouncy blow dry. Diamond studs and bracelet. Groomed eyebrows.

allfurcoatnoknickers · 07/08/2017 15:54

Freshly cut and blow dried hair
Mani-pedi
Brow and upper lip wax. Hate having it done, love how much better I look afterwards.
Really nicely fitting jeans. I always hated jeans until I discovered premium denim. Haven't looked back since and now have an obscene amount of JBrand and Paige Blush

allfurcoatnoknickers · 07/08/2017 15:55

Oh and the posh watch that DH bought me for by 30th birthday. It instantly makes any outfit look better. And like the scruffiness is a deliberate style statement Grin

Queenofthedrivensnow · 07/08/2017 16:18

Diamond earrings and matching necklace - every single day except special occasions when I wear the fancier set.

Jmangel · 07/08/2017 19:16

Fake tan freshly done, hair just washed so it's wavy frizz free (rather than 2 days later when it's twice the size and curly!), nails painted nude pink, exercised so arms toned and tummy flat, wearing something other than gym clothes (soooo lazy re this lately - feel like I've ducked out of summer clothes completely this year), teeth whitened, Bourjois Pamplemousse lipstick and a good spot free day (rare!).
There's so much work involved, it's exhausting. I probably only look like this once a week maximum. Must do better.

PansyParkinson · 07/08/2017 19:21

Professionally blow dried hair, nails freshly done, full makeup and a generous spritz of Chanel's Coco Mademoiselle.

fishonabicycle · 07/08/2017 19:35

Eyebrows done, clean varnish on fingers and toes. Sun tan and no make up apart from lipstick. Perfume (Bottega Veneta)

tearsinmyeyes · 07/08/2017 19:37

A full body wax
Blow dried hair
Shaping underwear
A spray of Si by Giorgio Armani

Queenofthedrivensnow · 07/08/2017 20:18

Tooth bleaching is great :-)

fivefour3twoone · 07/08/2017 20:43

Lots of people saying eyebrows - do you do your own or get them done? If you do your own what do you use/recommend and how long do you leave the dye on for?

Namila · 07/08/2017 20:54

oldlaundbooth for some reason I love pencil skirts on other women but I hate them on me. They make my hips look huge while I am actually quite skinny and ruler-like Hmm

allfurcoat please tell me more about premium denim Grin

I buy jeans on Asos/ Uniqlo but I have them tailored, do you think premium denim could fit well even without tailoring?

bananafish81 · 07/08/2017 23:04

YY to premium denim

I used to think 'how can jeans possibly cost that much, what difference can there possibly be - jeans are jeans surely?'

Until I tried a pair

Perfect amount of stretch, fit like a dream, wash amazingly - my cheapo Topshop jeans started off great but fairly quickly faded and went baggy at the knees

My Goldsign and J Brand jeans however are still going strong, years and many many washes later (Citizens of Humanity also excellent)

brightlightceiling · 07/08/2017 23:05

A long warm bath with naice smelling foam.

ToothTrauma · 07/08/2017 23:11

Groomed eyebrows, nice nails, fab lipstick 💄

Liiinoo · 08/08/2017 01:46

Fivefour3 I dye my own eyebrows buying dye and peroxide from Amazon. That works out cheaper than buying the Eyelure kit from Boots but they are a good start if you just want to try it out. I did it today and left it on about 20 minutes. They look a bit heavy today (not awful, my adult daughter is staying and she didn't notice) but I know tomorrow they will settle down and look perfect.

Two tips - protect the skin above and below your eyebrows by using Vaseline as a barrier applied with a cotton bud. Also really work the dye mix into the eyebrows going back and forth, up and down against the direction of growth, then when they are well and truly covered brush them back into the desired shape.

I don't need to worry about shaping because as I have got older my eyebrows have thinned and I use a serum to encourage growth. Once in a blue moon I might need to pluck a stray but that is all the shape maintenance I need.

I can be quite casual about my appearance but I try to be disciplined and do this regularly as good brows really do make a big difference.

allfurcoatnoknickers · 08/08/2017 01:59

namila I have a nightmare figure to dress hourglass with thunder thighs and a big bum, but a flat tummy and tiny waist, as well as skinny knees and ankles. I've tried on just about every brand of posh jeans and if you've any curves Paige and JBrand fit the best by far.

I think it's that the denim is nice and thick, so it holds you in without the "sausage" effect you can get with thinner denim. It also holds shape nicely, so no baggy knees or sagging waist bands. I also find they do a wider range of washes so you can find the perfect one for you.

My more athletic figured friend swears by AG jeans - says they do wonders for her bum.

HoneyDragon · 08/08/2017 09:22

New Trainers.

NormaDesmondsEyebrows · 08/08/2017 10:08

Wearing something other than pyjamas Grin

Every so often I actually get dolled up for an occasion and every single time I think 'wow, I'm not bad actually, should probably do this more often'. And then by the next day I'm back to jeans and breton tops with converse and no makeup. I'm such a glamour puss.

For occasions though I like well structured dresses, heels, makeup and hair done. I do own a fair few nice 'pieces' (bleurgh) so can look pretty pulled together when I can be arsed.

Having said that, it's nice to keep it for occasions as then I do genuinely get to feel a million dollars. If it was every day I wouldn't get the same buzz.

Its easier to dress down because otherwise I'd have the fear that I think I look all classy when actually I look like a Denise Welch knockoff. I often look at style blogs and think, well, I could wear that but I'd worry I'd look like I was wearing pyjamas.

Imagine going to all that effort to get out of my pjs only to end up looking like I'm wearing a nightie Grin

fivefour3twoone · 08/08/2017 10:27

Hmm thinking I need premium denim in my life! I live in cheap jeggings Blush
I'm a size 14 and carry all my weight on my tummy bum and thighs...which brand would be good to try?
