Summer Dresses - why is there always a problem?!

I'm just going to have a moan, you have been warned!

I'm looking for a casual, knee length, sleeved summer dress in cotton or linen, that can be worn with a cardi if necessary. I didn't think it would be difficult, but I've really struggled to find anything.

I found this one in Next. Slightly longer than I wanted, but it fitted really nicely, good sleeves, plenty of room in the skirt even though it buttons all down the front. It even has pockets!

But... put your hands in those pockets, and they're just at the right height that the fabric pulls apart between two buttons and shows your knickers. Any other buttons and I'd probably have bought it, but really I don't want to go around absentmindedly flashing my pants!

Any other "why didn't the designer notice that" things that might make me smile?

Grin That made me smile - put your hands in your pockets to flash your pants!

I always hate the fact that I'll see a beautiful dress and then take it off the rail to find that it's fucking backless.

Always backless, why? Most women I know want/need to wear a bra. It drives me insane!

I've just bought this. It ticks all my dress requiremts, including sleeves and length. I never look in Laua Ashley ever, but I popped up in my sidebar once. I've had loads of compliments and everyone assumed it was from Cos or Jigsaw. Pretty near perfect pockets too.

Sew up the pockets? I have sometimes done that with trousers for a more streamlined look.
