Lily Lolo instead of BareMinerals

I absolutely adore my BareMinerals foundation. It's my go-to for everyday makeup. However, since leaving my full time job and becoming a SAHM, I need to making savvier purchases so am thinking of trying Lily Lolo as it's cheaper than BareMinerals.

Has anyone used Lily Lolo so I can get an idea for it's staying power etc.?

Thanks.

For foundation I prefer it. I find the staying power just as good. I ordered the small sizes to testers out and decide between three colours. I ended with Candy Cane as it had the pink undertones I was looking for.

I also have at couple of eyeshadow (not as keen, but I rarely wear eyeshadow) and several lipsticks (which I love) from them.

I've been using Lily Lolo for several years now - I did try Bare Minerals, and didn't rate it all that much for the price, but LL suits me fine, and is about half the price. I'm fortunate that there is a beauty salon near me that stocks it, so I don't have to order online and pay postage. I find that it lasts well all day (I use primer underneath), and suits my 70 year old face!

Excellent! Thanks both :)

I prefer it as I'm pretty greasy and it seems more powdery.

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 04/08/2017 19:34

Oh I love it and have been using it for years after using BM for a couple of years.

SO many shades but if you email LL and tell them your BM shade they will suggest a match for you. Their customer service is fantastic unlike BM

I don't use anything else now. It's cheap and I much prefer it to Bare Minerals. I use the porcelain mineral base and finishing powder, and setting spray. The blusher isn't bad either.

PrimalLass · 04/08/2017 20:08

I love LilyLolo. I use Barely Buff most of the year and then mix together a few mini pots of the darker shades when I have a tan.

PrimalLass · 04/08/2017 20:09

Ooh yes the blusher too

Hairq · 04/08/2017 21:17

I think BM is much better, but I use Lily Lolo when I can't afford BM and it's fine.

Plumpysoft · 05/08/2017 17:03

Love it! I'm very pale and use China Doll

thepumpk1neater · 05/08/2017 17:11

The BM shades all seem to have an orange hue (I had a few samples)

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 05/08/2017 19:45

I agree, they do have an orangey hue. I find LL much nicer shades.

Missb00 · 05/08/2017 19:47

I love LL. can always find a shade to match and it doesn't feel heavy at all, wouldn't use anywhere else. The mini tester pots are great for trying shades.

HummingSloth · 05/08/2017 20:04

I've used lilylolo for about 5 years and I've stayed loyal - it's brilliant. I use the China doll shade too Smile

peoplearepeople · 05/08/2017 20:06

I must have been using LilyLolo for nearly 10 years now. In that time I've never found anything better. The shade range is excellent and they provide good samples if you are unsure of your shade.
I much prefer them to bareminerals, as I found their foundations tended to feel heavier and left me feeling shiny. Smile

Evewasinnocent · 05/08/2017 21:16

I have tried both - and prefer LL - you can get a tester kit (in fact I just buy these as they seem to last for ages!).

user1955 · 10/08/2017 10:08

Lily Lolo is 20% off today with code BDAY12.

GremlinGreen · 10/08/2017 13:48

I like Elemental Beauty. I think they're a bit cheaper than Lily Lolo. I used to use LL but switched to EB - just preferred the formula and shade.

mrskhw · 14/08/2017 17:08

Thanks all. I bought a load of samples but I'm struggling to get my kabuki brush to pick up the product in that tiny lid! Did you tip into a larger lid to apply if you bought samples first?

I agree that BM leaves a shine!

I wore LL for years and loved it. I only changed when my skin changed during periods menopause and I looked dead in it rather than natural and radiant. I had my make up done at bare minerals counter once just to compare and much preferred the LL.

LetZygonsbeZygones · 14/08/2017 17:15

Peri not period!!

user1495832265 · 14/08/2017 17:18

About the lid, yes either tip it into a larger lid or tip into a small cup or similar so you can try it.
I love LL - BM made me itch and the shades looked wrong on my skin - but I do struggle to get decent coverage. Not sure what I'm doing wrong but if anyone has any tips I'd appreciate them.

mrskhw · 14/08/2017 17:26

I have that issue with BM as I suffer with pigmentation from previous hormonal acne! Joys at the grand age of 32!!

I use a concealer first where I need it and the buff the foundation over the top.

How are you liking the shades you ordered ? I'm a Warm Peach person Grin

mrskhw · 14/08/2017 17:42

I'm really liking Barely Buff and In The Buff. I can't decide which one suits best but the finish is lovely.
