Eyelash curler recommendations now that Shu aren't selling in the U.K.?

My Shu Uemura curlers have bitten the dust and I need to replace them. Ideally I'd rebuy but I can't because Shu have pulled out of the UK.

Shu weren't perfect, I could have done with them being slightly wider as the outer lashes sometimes didn't get picked up but overall they were good. I've tried a few others without success - Boots own (did nothing), Metier de Beaute (pad too soft), tweezerman (hinges too loose).

Anyone got recs for a replacement set? Ideally a pair that is as robust and gives as reliable a curl as Shu but is designed for a 'rounder' Western eye (therefore might get around the stray lash issue). I've seen Kevin Aucoin recommended and the Surratt ones. The Surratt pair are nearly £30 though, so I'm wary. I'd prefer to spend £20ish really. Thanks.

I really like Charlotte Tilsbery(sp) ones . In fact I changed from Shu to them.

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 02/08/2017 16:00

Primark ones. Seriously.

NomDePlumeReloaded · 02/08/2017 16:00

Thanks. How robust is the pad in the CT ones? Can you buy replacement pads?

I got some from Muji which I found to be fine, though I haven't used many tbh. They came with a spare pad.

NomDePlumeReloaded · 02/08/2017 16:04

Primark?! It would never occur to me to buy anything from there, ours is brimming with teens, has queues for days and looks like a jumble sale. Primark isn't a name that springs to mind where s&b stuff is concerned.

I know, I was sniffy too but they are fantastic. And a quid!

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 02/08/2017 16:12

They also come with replacement pads.

leghoul · 02/08/2017 16:13

Seconding primary. Couldn't find mine, borrowed my teenage daughter's ones, and was converted.

I got a free set included with last month's glamour mag and they are fantastic! Can't remember the make off the top of my head

NomDePlumeReloaded · 02/08/2017 16:31

£1?! Maybe it's worth a go then before shelling out for ££££ ones

I am quite happy to spend loads on beauty products but I've used Primark ones for years now as they're so good. I bought them as a stop gap as I broke my good ones!

Scottishlassie81 · 02/08/2017 16:38

Buy them from outside the UK. If they are that good just pay for the extra postage.

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 02/08/2017 16:50

You can get hit for import duties though not just postage.

PrawnTempura · 02/08/2017 17:01

Sally Hughes wrote about this a few months ago here and recommended Shiseido, Surratt or Kevin Aucoin curlers as alternatives.

Tis sad, I loved their cleansing oil too (last bottle waiting in the cupboard...)

Xoticdreamz · 02/08/2017 17:01

Sounds like I might try the primark ones next. Charlottes ones are robust and come with replacement pads . They are really good I think.

JRoo · 02/08/2017 18:04

I just bought some from Tiger from £2. I was sceptical but they do a great job.

hollyisalovelyname · 02/08/2017 18:41

I prefer the plastic eye lash curlers to the metal ones.
I have the Shu eye lash curlers but don't think they are the right shape for me eyes.

whitehandledkitchenknife · 02/08/2017 20:15

I second the cheapy ones from Tiger.

Pirisprinkles · 03/08/2017 09:19

Shiseido. They are just perfect for my eye shape and give a soft natural curl, couldn't get the same result with Shu Uemura curler.

HelenRose1111 · 05/08/2017 21:01

Eyeko eyelash curlers have been great for me - I like the wider non slip handle so you don't get grooves in your fingers.
