Suits for larger men?

Hi folks,
We have a wedding coming up somewhere warm and I took DH clothes shopping.
DH is rather round in the tummy (aw fuck it, he's overweight and it's all in his stomach) which means we can find a suit jacket that fits everywhere but he can't fasten the thing.
We tried on a load of stuff in M&S. I ordered online, it arrived and now he doesn't like the fit of any of it.
Where can I find vaguely quirkly clothes for a 48 chest, 40 inch waist man in a light fabric that aren't going to cost me over £150?
Help me.
He is now sad because he feels fat, I am peeved because I went to all the bother of getting the clothes but also I want to cheer him up because it must suck.

Why not hire a suit? That way he is measured and fitted properly?

MrsPear · 01/08/2017 22:45

Moss hire do lounge suits to white tie and packages can include everything

BWatchWatcher · 01/08/2017 22:45

Cannot hire a suit :( wedding is in another country & we are flying and staying there for a week.

Do you have a Dunelm Mill nearby. I find that does nice enough, good quality suits for my (built like a Viking farmer) DH. Although he's the same measurements but quite big and broad all over rather than 'just' a belly.

TheFairyCaravan · 01/08/2017 22:49

I'm not sure what you mean about quirky but Matalan do a Big&Tall range now.

Next is worth a look at too. I got both my kids' prom suits from there for less than £100.

Biggreygoose · 01/08/2017 22:51

Im similar measurements - EBay is a good place to start.

iklboo · 01/08/2017 22:54

Premier Man go up to something like 5XL & you can get the jacket and trousers separately.

The closest thing you'll get in Dunelm Mill is curtains!

Armstrong Mills perhaps?

My husband (48" chest 38" waist) gets some clothes from slaters - says they are great for suits.

DelphiniumBlue · 01/08/2017 22:57

Jacamo?

HerOtherHalf · 01/08/2017 22:58

Do you have a Slaters near you? They sell off the peg but offer a very good alterations service. Very reasonably priced and wide selection.

therootoftheroot · 01/08/2017 22:58

Slater menswear
They do suits in every size
Very good salesmen who know exactly what they have and what will suit

BWatchWatcher · 01/08/2017 23:03

No Slaters unfortunately, we're in NI.

I did wonder about Dunelm Mill! I thought it was just me :)

I am googling the others! Thanks so much for the help!!

Thanks!
Jacomo and Premier Man appear to be the same company, but they have a blue linen blazer that may work!
Will show to DH. We have trousers and then need to source a shirt.

Premier Man do the shirts as well Wink

BlushMust have got my 'Mill' mixed up - I meant Boundary Mill - if you've got one near you. Must be my friend raving about her new curtains that got me all confused Grin.
Other places that are good - Jacamo?
