Modern Equivalent to a Rainmate?

The weather's been changeable to say the least in these parts, and my hair is newly long - it doesn't take much moisture to turn it into puffy rats' tails. Often it's too warm for a coat when I leave the house, and pissing it down five minutes later.

I've taken to stuffing a hat in my bag to shove on and protect my hair - but I feel a complete twat in a woolly beanie hat in July. They don't exactly complement a summer outfit.

So, what does everyone else wear on their heads in summer? The old fashioned plastic Rainmate is the perfect solution - or it would be, if it was 1976. But it's not.

Is there a modern equivalent? Something that's foldable, not too warm and wintery, but that I can plonk on my head if it rains?

I just use an umbrella! I can often be found in a t shirt and umbrella combo.

I can't think of a way of being stylish in a plastic rain hood so your best bet is probably a very thin pac a mac.

Umbrellas are my nemesis. I forget them, lose them and I never seem to have enough hands. I'm also often on my bike, so a hat is the best bet.

I've been looking at flat caps, baseball caps and bucket hats. Are any of those remotely acceptable? I fear not...

Oh, and I don't like hoods either. I'm an awkward bugger, sorry.
