Any recommendations for hair dye? Want something that will be gone by the end of the holidays.

Blue or purple are colours we would like to choose.

Directions are semi permanent, and do glorious colours.

Also, if it's dipped, it can be cut out can't it?

That's what I'm planning to do with dds (when I get round to it)

MatildasAunt · 26/07/2017 17:16

Arctic fox - we're using it this summer the purple is really good - also leaves hair in great condition.

Bastardgo

Where can you buy directions?

Matilda

Where do you buy arctic fox?

Thankyou both for replying.

Tried superdrug own today and it did nothing! One very disappointed child.

Sorry for raining on your parade, I have brightly dyed hair and did it purple for a month. It was a nightmare to get rid of! It ended up turning blue then green.
I normally have pillar box red hair but fancied a change.
I use crazy color fire and buy it off eBay. They have loads of different colours.

marmaladeforme · 26/07/2017 17:57

Just to clarify I'd actually bleached my dark hair to get the bright purple so might not be so bad if you aren't planning on bleaching the ends first.

Honkyzeke · 26/07/2017 18:01

We've also tried the Superdrug own pick and mix colours DD has blonde hair we put violet in it and first application was very pale looking so we put another application on for a bit longer and didn't wash it out as well and that seems to have taken it's still lilac rather than violet though but as I say she has blonde hair so I think enough applications were always going to work, I can't really see these wash out colours working on darker hair.

Matilda

To dip dye do you only need the 4oz not 8 oz?

Has she got dark hair? DD hasmid brown hair and home dyes didn't take - took her to the hairdresser in the end who said that they won't on darker hair in good condition, and she'd have to bleach it first. Hairdresser was good and recommended against bleach and suggested purple extensions mixed in to her hair instead (cut to same length as natural hair) which DD is very happy with.

TerfwithaNerf · 26/07/2017 18:23

Bleach the ends, dye using Manic Panic/Directions.

Before school starts, get the dyed bit cut off.

I've done this for DD(9) for the past 3 summers. She's having one side teal and one lavender this year.

TerfwithaNerf · 26/07/2017 18:28

This was last year.

You will need to prelighten it to a very light blonde first before any bright colour willl take. These Things are best left to professionals, hairdressers don't train for 3 years for nothing! If not.. talk to a hairdresser for advice, it's not as simple as just sticking a box on.. imagine painting bright blue paint on a black wall..

Vintageproblem · 26/07/2017 18:45

My DS currently has green hair for the summer. When it's time to go back to school he'll have it cut. If there's any green left I'll dye it brown again.

Vintageproblem · 26/07/2017 18:46

He has it done at the hairdresser but I might try and do it next summer if he wants it done again.

Stargirl82 · 26/07/2017 18:47

I agree with pp, currently have bleached blonde hair. Dyed cadburys purple. Didn't last long and then went blue then green

angelgirls · 26/07/2017 19:02

I'm just about to do dd12 hair, she had pink last year and is going purple this year!

We use Schwarzkopf Live and it washed out before end of summer hols!

Dd is light Brown hair and I don't pre lightening it comes out nice colour

Happilyneverafterrr · 26/07/2017 19:19
