How do you measure leg length in shorts?

I want to get a pair of Richmond shorts from boden. They come in 3, 4, 6 and 9 inch lengths. Where do you measure from? Is it inside leg? Has anyone got them?

I haven't got them but I've just had a look and I'd assume that means inside leg measurement.

It couldn't be outer leg if one option is 3", so yes, it has to be inside leg.

Thanks! Yes in hindsight it is obvious it has to be inside leg!!!! I thought 9 inch look really long in the photos but I just measured some shorts I already have and they're 9 inches. Hmmm could be a bit short but I'll order them and try!!
