would this be grim?

Going to Krakow in August, expecting it to be hot.

Would it be grim for me to wear shorts in town? I am 50+ with decent legs (if that makes any difference). They are not "daisy dukes" but not knee-length Baden-Powells either, they come to mid-thigh.
I wouldn't be popping into any churches, but would shorts be really inappropriate for this city?

Sounds absolutely fine. Krakow is a modern city- and it does get quite hot.

Perfect sight seeing gear

They would be fine. Although I was in Krakow a few years ago and it was NOT warm (this was unusual I believe!). Had to buy some warm jumpers!

They'd be fine for generally being out and about.

I always think that you should wear long trousers if visiting Auschwitz, just out of respect.

The Salt Mines can be chilly, so pack a pair and decide when you are there.

Absolutely fine , enjoy.

Thanks all for your replies, very reassuring.

Everything going in my case has to justify its place!
