Waterproof boots (not wellies) for 6yr old

DS needs new boots, he's always had wellies but I think they're too slippy for all the climbing and running around he does.

Can anyone recommend boots for muddy woodland adventures (and hopefully a trip to the giants causeway).

Are the boots at mountain warehouse etc any good?

We've been buying children's walking boots for years, and get loads of wear out of them. Warmer than wellies, and we seem to get two years our of each pair.

Cheap ones from mountain warehouse or sports direct.

Mine have waterproof snow boot type things from Next, but I don't know if they sell them in the summer??? Sorry, not actually much help! Confused

easier for girls - dd had Timberland riding-type boots with fab grippy soles (ebay ,they are ££ new)

this type from Mtn Warehouse? Look ok but I wouldn't paddle in them like you can in wellies.

Maybe just look for better-made wellies with good grip? Hatley did us well when they were that size, or try a real countrywear shop that does Barbours etc

MyMayu’s Muddy Munchkin line of boots are perfect for nature walks and outdoor adventures, rain or shine. I got this for my DD online from here

Thanks for all your suggestions! It's really helpful to know there are some good alternatives to wellies.

I'll have to have a good Google tomorrow and look to see if I can get a bargain.

Really helpful to know they last well too.

Do you have to re-apply waterproofing often?

Waterproof walking boots would be a good choice. But remember that you can't paddle in anything other than wellies.
The mountain Warehouse waterproof boots are good quality, there are several to chose from.

Sherwood Forest Brumby Boots - fantastic!

The DC have always had Geox Savage boots. They are excellent, and I've always managed to get them discounted via Amazon or Surfdome.

DS had a long series of Splats boots which were amazing but sadly they seem to have gone out of business.

Last winter he had Jack Wolfskin boots which were very good. Will probably have another pair in October.
