he is becoming very self conscious about it; it's on his lower cheeks along his jawline and is v. red and bumpy. He's using his sisters facial scrub on the sneak but it isn't doing anything

anyone on here had the same problem and has got rid of it or at least improved their skin? Thank you

Cleanse twice daily with flannel
Eucerin face cream with urea.

Should sort it right out.

ElspethFlashman · 23/07/2017 16:17

The only thing I've heard of having significant success is Eucerin.

There's a post on here about some Korean towels .....I'll bump it .

Purplerainbow · 23/07/2017 16:25

I had this on my legs and arms and although the eucerin helped a little, I bough the off amazon on recommendation on here the ameliorate body lotion and scrub and it's been amazing! The only thing is it makes your skin more sun sensitive so will need to make sure you wear sun cream but it's worth it in my opinion!

Urea cream

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 23/07/2017 16:56

Ahhhhh I just read through 150+ posts on the Korean towels. You need to soak 20-30 minutes before (not sure how you could do that with your face ) . Might be a bit coarse for facial skin.

That lactic acid 10% is waaaaay too strong for a 13 yr old imo. I would be wary of it myself. It causes major peeling.

squoosh · 23/07/2017 17:10

Good point.

OP lactic acid worked wonders on my arms but Elspeth I right that you need to be careful of the concentration. There will be weaker solutions on the market.

There is a theory that keratosis pilaris is caused by an overpopulation of the demodex mite, which lives in our hair follicles, and particularly around our lash follicles.

Kind of gross, but it's their decomposing bodies and faeces that are thought to cause keratosis pilaris, also rosacea and possibly acne too. It's nothing for your DS to be embarrassed about because we all host demodex mites, just some of us seem to provide a more agreeable habitat and so suffer these horrible skin symptoms!

Tea tree oil will kill demodex mites, or I have had good results with flowers of sulphur and sulphur soap. (UV light also kills them, which is why keratosis pilaris typically improves in the summer months).

Thanks everyone, you've been a great help. Flannel twice a day and Eucerin to start off with
