Shoes for rainy summer

I'm flummoxed at what shoes to wear at the moment. It's hot but raining on and off, sometimes very heavily. I hate wearing enclosed shoes when it's hot, but even ballet flats aren't keeping my feet dry. Should I just stick to sandals and get wet feet?

Added complication is that I'm 8m pregnant and my feet have swelled up. Can anyone help?

New Look sell cheap, wide-fit slip-on casual shoes, some of which cover most of the foot and are waterproof. I bought a pair in the sale which are very comfortable and have been perfect in this rainy weather. Admittedly they are plasticky but they're loose-fitting enough not to be too sweaty and it's worth it for the rain protection.

Could you post a link? I don't live in the Auk anymore so probably can't get those exact shoes, but a pic would give me an idea of what to look for. Thanks!

I would just go for really comfortable flip flops if it were me. Havaianas (sp?) are my favourite and do not rub in the rain - having just spent a week living in them on a uk holiday in all weathers.

That said I can also recommend the superga trainers as recommended above which I have worn all day today traipsing round a theme park with my children. But they are trainers and warm - it was peeing it down all day here so suited me fine. They are quite a wide fit though so would probably suit swollen feet!

Do you need something smart? I have used penny loafers, closed toe wedges, low cut brogues, jazz shoes type things.

For casual hat about the converse ballerina style

I was always very hot when pregnant even in autumn winter so would live in FITFLOPs (not damaged by water) or Birkenstocks for comfortable but wet feet but they do get wrecked with constant rain. Or some ECCO shoes flat lace ups.
