Anyone gone from long hair to short?

Need some advice from you wise ladies. I've got (and always had) long hair. Long being, at the moment, half way down my back. The shortest I've ever gone is just below my shoulders. I'm going for a haircut, a rare occurrence, next Friday. I'm considering going for a drastic change to a short style. I'm scared though! I've got quite a round face and am worried it'll look awful. Please throw some pictures you think will suit me. I'll upload a recent pic of myself. Thanks all.

My dd went from long to short and its fab. She suited long hair but she suits short even more. Plus she can manage it much better as she has arthritis and it doesn't take forever to wash dry or brush. Do it. If you hate it, it will grow back. You could go slightly longer than short and then have it cut shorter the next time.

@comealongpond89 I think you should go for it :) The thing is that short hair is easier to take care of, you won't even have to think about it. I had short hair and I loved it, I'm thinking of cutting mine too since I really don't know how to style it anymore.
I would suggest the following:

  1. A stacked bob
  2. A voluminous inverted bob
  3. A-line bob
  4. A long bob
It also depends on your hair texture, if it's thick, then I think you should go for a feathered long bob. Here you can find more ideas for short hairstyles for round faces. Hope it helped!

Wow what a transformation, looks great OP!

TwoBusyCnuts · 29/07/2017 12:14

I did. But I was 26 and a lot thinner than I am now. Go for a long bob first.

MrsChopper · 29/07/2017 14:13

I went for it and my hair looks pretty much like the photo I showed the hairdresser (see prev post) just brunette grey!

I am too shy to post results Blush but I love love love my hair and hairdresser had great fun chopping it all off!

thepatchworkcat · 29/07/2017 14:21

MrsChopper I'd love to have that hair too! What sort of hair have you got? Mine's fine hair but lots of it so it's really thick if you see what I mean! Really want to go short but with the thickness of it I'm never sure.

MrsChopper · 29/07/2017 14:54

Mine is fine but I have lots of it. Loads fell out postpartum so I ended up with short bits where it is growing back, whilst the rest was past my bra strap!

Luckily hairdresser said it has thickened up loads again. My hair is also quite curly. Asked hairdresser about it and she said that's great because I can wear my new style curly/wavy or straighten it.
