Daisy shirt - nice or awful?

From DP...I can't decide..I think it could look nice with jeans (although not keen on the cut/colour of jeans on the model. Or is it just yuck?

Just as an aside, why are so many tops not made of polyester/nylon etc? Is it just cheaper?
