I usually look like merde on holiday

I am 46 years old, probably look about 38, short, pear shaped size 10, my thighs are my heaviest part, not bad looking in general - specially fully dressed, pretty good hair... until I go on holiday that's it.

I don't do well in the heat at all. I mean, I look awful, just awful. My hair it's the main culprit, it becomes a thick frizzy mess. Up dos don't suit me at all, make me look very middle aged, which admittedly I am. But it's not just my hair, it's my face and everything else.

Are there any products I can rely on to ensure my hair stays straight? I'll pay anything!! I'm wearing it just below shoulder length, its natural colour is mousy brown but I have a few lighter highlights. It is fine but got a fair amount. I blow dry it straight and it looks pretty nice.... until there's humidity in the air. I can't wash and go, it just looks a hideous thick frizzy birds nest.

What other products will make me feel good about myself whilst desperately seeking shade? I always wear high wedges but I realise that will look ridiculous around the resort, so again, wearing flats make me feel dumpy and unattractive.

As for the way I look in a swimming costume, let's not even go there....

Brazilian blow dry. Life changing.

Frizz dismiss cream!

In the heat you should be working with your hair's natural texture not trying to fight it unless you get it chemically straightened.

Another vote for Brazilian blow dry. I paid £99 at Rush on a Weds special offer (London prices).

Oh I sympathise with the hair thing. I've just had 2 weeks in Southern Europe and managed to not blow dry my hair once by using Bumble & Bumble's Don't Blow It cream in wet hair every morning. I had beachy wavy hair for two weeks that looked intentional rather than frizzy and fluffy. And the best bit was NO BLOWDRYING for two weeks. That may actually have been the most relaxing part of my holiday.

Second the recommendation for Bumble & Bumble's don't blow it styling cream. Also the Brazilian blow dry. Maybe google some before and after pictures.

You won't necessarily look ridiculous in wedges. A cork or espadrille wedge can definitely work in a resort.

As for your cossie? A lot of people don't feel good in them. You only need wear it when you're in the water though. How about a couple of nice beach cover ups? Go for mid thigh length and invest in cotton or linen. Don't bother with hideous polyester ones.

Something weird happens to my face on holiday too. I find that a full threading session (whole face and eyebrows) and tinted lashes and brows really helps.

It brings out your features and your face kind of hangs from your brows, in a good way I promise! A radiance boosting facial oil each night (after a thorough cleanse) won't hurt either.
