I'm 45, blue eyes and fair skinned with a bit of redness round the nose & mouth.
Cheap or spendy I don't mind!
Current favourites are Mehr & Velvet Teddy

Are you looking for neutrals or do you fancy more of a colour statement?

Nars dolce vita, Nars Audacious Anita, Urban Decay wrong number (looks too pink but lovely on) MAC twig (my sister stole mine and I miss it!) and Clarins woodrose. I tend to stay in the same colour family but these are all great textures!

I liked the look of Twig but thought it might be too similar to Velvet Teddy?

Uh oh now I've started looking at lipsticks online! Urban decay ravenswood looks like my next buy!

Syrup is a beautiful cool natural pink, I find Mehr a bit dark. I also like Lancôme Rose Nu and Medieval by Lipstick Queen which is a very sheer red. My current nude is Bleached by Lime Crime which is a matte liquid lipstick which is lovely and would suit you. My summer lips are Clinique chubby stick in Mega Melon which should also suit you

Love my No7 lipstick atm, I like the little cards Boots/No7 have to tell you which shade matches your skin tone (which they find using their little gadget).

Always get comments about how the colour suits me when I wear that one, which I don't with other brands/colours.

Clinique Almost Lipstick in Black Honey - can look sheer/subtle, or layer it on for a stronger colour

Stila pomegranate crush. I love it. It's a stain so doesn't come off too easily, and it layers nicely if I want it to be a more intense colour.

What shade are you GrumpyGreta? I'm cool vanilla & I was in looking at the lipsticks they recommended but wasn't sure how long lasting they were

Have a look at the NARS lip crayons.

I'm into orangey shades, so probably the complete opposite of you, I'm a hazel eyed, warm toned, blonde. Velvet teddy is too mauve and cool for me. I look dead in it. My best colour is Red Square by Nars (Velvet lip pencil), matte, bold orangey red. Not for the faint hearted but perfect for summer. Only downside of orangey shades is that they can make teeth look yellower, so not ideal for those with a teeth complex !

Definitely the complete opposite to me NomDePlume I think it's the cooler shades which suit me better which is a shame cos I love the oranges & corals
