I'm 35 and it's my hen do next week. We're having dinner and cocktails so nothing outrageous but I want to look good. I have an 11 month old son and while I'll never be the same again I do fit my pre baby clothes which I was chuffed about! So feeling good I bought this dress yesterday. I've decided to embrace fashion as I'm a bit samey and haven't really changed my style since I was 21. This dress will probably be just above knee length on me and I'm quite happy with my legs.

I'd normally wear black tights but I'm going to go bare legged. What shoes should I go for? I live in converse and birks so shoes aren't really my strong point.

I've been working on making myself a bit more glam - I've invested in some nice make up and am being a bit more adventurous with things as I really don't want anyone to tell me I'm mumsy lol.

Black suede look booties. Or is it too hot for those?

Bombardier25966 · 20/07/2017 11:01

That's a really pretty dress. I'd keep it classy with simple black leather heels. It would look lovely with knee high boots in the winter too.

fruityb · 20/07/2017 13:54

I like the boots and bare legs look but don't know if I'll look clunky lol. I'd wear ankle boots in this weather - if anyone has any ideas do let me know 😀

beautiful flat jewel embellished flat sandals - the pics do no justice

fruityb · 20/07/2017 14:36

Ooh those are pretty! Something like that could work...

They are pricey but the best pair of flats I've ever owned, so comfy and I have regular compliments on them - even from strangers. They sparkle so prettily!

fruityb · 24/07/2017 12:47

Would these work?

IMO sandals with long sleeves look a bit weird . Like you are wearing a winter dress with summer shoes but ankle boots and bare legs would look good .

IAmTheWorwax · 24/07/2017 14:54

Those shoes would work well imo. Slap a bit of tan on and you'll look fab! I love the dress

BenFolly · 24/07/2017 15:08

Gorgeous dress!

NC4now · 24/07/2017 15:08

These would be nice.

Or these

Or something like this?

I love the dress and the shoes you suggested would work too.

fruityb · 24/07/2017 15:52

I thought that about sandals as well - I won't wear shorts with a long sleeved top as it looks odd to me lol.

I like those boots and the second pair there. I have a new look delivery pass so I might order those.

I am in love with this dress - it's going to be worn to death. I quite like the embroidery fashion at the moment: I'm really not that trendy normally!

Lovely dress, I'd keep the shoes quite simple so they don't compete for attention!

EpoxyResin · 24/07/2017 16:05

That dress is gorge! When I stop being pregnant I might try and find one just like it. I'd wear it with tan boots - perhaps even tan COWBOY boots - but then again I'm a bit boho/casual. If I were going somewhere dressier I would wear it with a nude heel.

fruityb · 24/07/2017 16:09

I did consider tan boots I'll be honest!

Link to a generic nude heel for illustration purposes - to be fair you can wear a pointy-toed nude heel with almost anything in my opinion, and with flesh-coloured tights they make your legs look a mile long!

EpoxyResin · 24/07/2017 16:11

I LIVE in tan boots Grin

BusterGonad · 24/07/2017 16:15

I have this one Op, very similar, mines a bit too small though as they didn't have the bigger size!
If I can get into it I'll wear mine with ankle boots.
I love embroidery. It looks so beautiful!

Gosh Buster they're really similar aren't they!

I really like those sandals. I had some nude heels at some point I might go hunt them down...
Definitely need some fake tan - I do have a bit of a tan from a week in Menorca in May but it could do with a hand I think.

Fruity Mines the Velvet winter version, and yours is the lovely summer one! Grin

BenFolly · 24/07/2017 19:12

Total stalker alert!

OP could you post a picture of you wearing the dress?

Would love to see it on a real person!

Am seriously tempted!!

fruityb · 24/07/2017 19:29

If you go on new looks website on the tall dresses section there's the model in it lol.
