What would it be? Botox, laser hair removal, teeth whitening etc? What would really make you look and feel better and be good value for money?

I was just wondering this while at a clinic today after looking at the price of permanent hair removal for the bikini area and decided i'd rather get something you can see IYKWIM

I have a long shopping list of procedures I'd like to have, but I'd get my leg veins done first, as they're on show everyday during the summer.

Truckingalong · 20/07/2017 08:48

Botox

ClarkWGriswold · 20/07/2017 08:52

Teeth. I hate my teeth with a passion and would happily have the lot removed and replaced with implants if I could afford it.

Fontella · 20/07/2017 09:14

Jowl lift!

I don't mind aging but I am getting saggy jowls and there's nothing I can do to get rid of them other than have a permanent grin plastered on my face.

36plusandtrying · 20/07/2017 09:17

I always thought Botox but tried it and didn't love it .... mind you now it's worn off I'm tempted to go again. Teeth whitening is fab, but the sensitivity is a killer Grin

lovemycatsanddog · 20/07/2017 09:23

Neck lift, hate the turkey neck, but i AM old, face not bad but neck gone to pot

ElspethFlashman · 20/07/2017 09:23

Clear plastic braces. Like trays. I doubt they're quite as effective as train tracks but I like that you can pop them in and out. They're called different things in different clinics. Invisalign is just one brand.

I was thinking of getting regular train tracks on the back of my teeth so they're invisible but then a YouTuber I follow got it done last year and I swear she could barely talk for weeks afterwards, she was almost incomprehensible. And was lisping for literally months. And they were visible when she laughed anyway! So I scrapped that.

leccybill · 20/07/2017 09:26

Botox, for sure.

Eastpoint · 20/07/2017 09:26

If you like swimming or go on holiday much I think permanent hair removal is worth it. I had it done 10 years ago (light skin dark hair) and it is brilliant. I'd have to be waxed every 3-4 weeks before, so pleased I had it done (armpits were really good too).

IAmTheWorwax · 20/07/2017 09:30

God, all sorts if I had the cash.
Teeth whitening and straightening, lip plumpers, teeny bit of botox, all over body hair removal, boob job, lipo, anything to get rid of KP.

But then I try to take a step back and remember I don't really need any of these things as it's not natural to look perfect.

FlindersKeepers · 20/07/2017 09:34

As someone who has had more of this list than she'll admit to... the teeth gives the longest effect.

Had major dentistry and laser bleaching done 13 years ago, it still shows up. Admittedly, my teeth were light anyway but the combination worked, the (regular) maintenance is low and I could claim some against insurance due to a repair/prevention of grinding. I had no extra sensitivity afterwards. Worth the money.

Laser hair removal can work well for a good candidate (light skin, dark hair), but in most cases about 10% of hair will come back especially towards menopause. Quite good value.

Thread veins (laser) hurts at the time, may be covered by some insurers, can still recur but the removed spot stays removed. Worth it.

Botox etc works, but needs redoing 3-4x a year (can be stretched to 2x/year in some cases), needs a skilled specialist who knows what you're aiming to achieve rather than what they can bill for, can also be used to correct a gummy smile etc. Yes, but only if funds permitting with a great doctor and knowing that is an on-going process.

Aridane · 20/07/2017 09:37

Well - obviously will depend on the individual. I am lucky enough to have the following:

  1. Botox - makes me look less tired and a bit fresher, less droopy. Have once or twice a year.

  2. Fillers for the lines that go from nose to mouth and beyond. Makes me look more like my cheerful self as opposed to have mieserable-resting-face

  3. Highlights & brazilian & keratin blow dry.

FlindersKeepers · 20/07/2017 09:46

Oh yeah, fillers: needs a really, really good doctor (bad botox looks less bad than bad fillers, despite the fact that hyaluronic acid fillers can be dissolved by injection if necessary), can last 6-18 months. Botox works on muscle, filler fills. So for a jowl, this may mean considering marionette line filler, replacing fullness higher on the cheek with filler, considering a thread lift (my pal had it done, it hurt like a bastard and I didn't think it helped) or considering if there's another reason e.g. age (acceptance?) or structural (teeth still good? They hold up your face).

It's all a discussion and not about need - I look far from perfect btw, I've done some stuff out of curiosity, some out of not wanting to have my (hopefully temporary) stress written on my face as a permanent reminder and some because my doctor suggested it during a skin cancer check. Plus some vanity (I do too many video conferences at work).

This is a bloody novel, sorry.

Berrybakecake1 · 20/07/2017 09:50

Teeth removing and replaced with implants. - hate my teeth.

Laser hair removal (especially upper lipBlush)

Lots and lots of hair care eg: thickening treatments. Maybe some colouring and keratin treatments.

I know it's extreme but I would also love a boob lift when I'm done losing weight.

Aridane · 20/07/2017 09:57

Oh - yes - boob reduction and uplift - but it's major surgery...
