Can anyone recommend a good one in London (ideally central or east/north)?

I don't want to go somewhere bog-standard like Claire's, but can't afford the swanky department-store ones that cost £200 either.

I'm not in London but got mine done 2 weeks ago at a tattoo shop near me. I searched, read reviews and went with one that had lots of 5* ones

Cold Steel in Camden. they're the best!

0utForAWalkBitch · 18/07/2017 18:46

I got mine done in Topshop Oxford Circus, they were great. It's about £45 if I recall correctly.

Thanks all! Hadn't thought of Top Shop but that's a great idea.

Love and hate social club in Notting hill. I just got a helix done there. Fab experience.

GrimDamnFanjo · 19/07/2017 00:17

Love and Hate Social Club for me too. 3 piercings there. Nicole is lovely, she is on Facebook so you can message her, Piercings By Nicole. If you are looking for great jewellery they are a BVLA stockist.

zippyswife · 19/07/2017 07:52

Yes I loved LHSC experience so much I'm considering another one. I didn't have Nicole though. I had the sweetest Scottish girl she spent ages helping me (dither) pick the exact place and piercing.

GrimDamnFanjo · 20/07/2017 00:13

Ah Zippy I am actually v conservative and thanks to lhsc I have a piercing thang. I have a forward helix which Nicole managed to fix and she pierced my helix and two in my left ear, conches. I will get more. Working with a piercer is very interesting as they can see how the piercings can work together.

SapphireStrange · 20/07/2017 09:50

What's a helix and why is a 'forward helix' a bad thing?

I am very naive about this stuff. Grin

Thanks for the further recommendations.

Noooo where should be charging 200 for a nose piercing! Try extreme needle in covent garden (professional body mod artists so a nose piercing is very easy for them, Veronica is awesome!! ) or Old London Road in Kingston , Emma is lovely and very good :-) x

SapphireStrange · 20/07/2017 12:02

Some of the prices do seem high. I guess you're paying for the jewellery?

Piercing with needles is better than a gun. Avoid chain shops, look for piercing studios - often linked to tattoo parlours.

I paid £20 with the jewellery for my nose stud at an independent piercing shop. £45-200 seems obscene!

SapphireStrange · 20/07/2017 12:07

Excellent tip about needles/guns; thanks!

Into You on St John Street. Not far from Angel or Barbican tube stations.
Great place, loads of experience and definitely won't cost you an arm and a leg.

Gothbaby · 20/07/2017 20:21

Some places will give you much better quality jewellery too. So always ask about that x

PlaymobilPirate · 20/07/2017 23:56

Can I jump on your thread for a sec please op?

New nose piercings - to twiddle or not to twiddle? I'm 2 weeks in but it's still not healed (He's pierced through quite a fat hit of my nostril - not sure if that makes a difference?)

I'm worried that if I don't twiddle the skin will heal around my piercing and it'll fuse or something. But if I do twiddle - am I just breaking the scab and extending healing time??

VivienneWestwoodsKnickers · 21/07/2017 07:58

No twiddling. Just clean as per the instructions.

SapphireStrange · 21/07/2017 09:43

No probs, Playmobil; I'll need to know about all this when/if I get mine done!

The Into You website says it has closed. Sad

OP posts:
pinkyredrose · 21/07/2017 10:53

play don't twiddle! You'll break the skin and prolong healing. It won't fuse! Metal and skin are too different to become part of each other.

Veterinari · 21/07/2017 13:43

No twiddling - nose piercings go through cartilage and can take 6 months to heal. Be patient!
