Tell me about your thick wavy hair?

What's the best products you've tried to tame it? Mines very thick, wavy not curly, straightens out no problem but that takes a long time to achieve. Left to its own devices it is wavy/frizzy. I've tried the sea Salt sprays which work quite well. Any other recommendations?

My daughter has very curly hair. Join some curly hair groups on Facebook. Amazing advice for all types of curly hair.

Another recommendation for joining a curly hair group on Facebook. I've cut out shampoo, anything with silicones, drying alcohols and other baddies. There is a time of transition, but my hair has been totally transformed and I haven't touched a straightener in all that time.

When I say I've cut out shampoo, I still wash my hair, just with conditioner. It's still clean, just soft and healthy now.

Thanks guys, I'll take a look on FB. I think the full curly recommendations aren't going to work though because mine doesn't curl from the root, and is actually quite oily at the top, so it's a bit of an oily/frizzy disaster.

You'd be surprised at the transformation following the curly girl method, you might find that your hair is curly rather than wavy.

You are best to keep it simple from the start and find out what works best for you. It will appear daunting to start with though.

Some products I recommend are

Umberto Giannini curl jelly and John Freda mouse(I forget the exact name) both available in boots

Your hair sounds like mine - I use Toni and Guy Classic Wave Memoriser and Frizz Ease Dream Curls spray before diffusing it dry. Find a good hairdresser - I had some right cowboys but have been faithful to my current stylist for 10 years now!

I have long thick wavy hair. It's far and away my best feature and I get complimented on it regularly. I use Pantene Repair and Protect shampoo and conditioner and let it dry naturally. I might put a little bit of VO5 oil on it if it looks a bit frizzy, but otherwise I leave it alone.
