Awful 'high lift ' high lights-how to correct quickly?

I am in my fifties with darkish brown hair with a lot of grey showing through. I normally have mixed caramel/honey highlights and an all over light brown tint done about every 8-10 weeks.

Last week I said I would like to be a bit lighter for the summer so on my colourists advice I had normal tint and caramel high lights but he added some high lift , blonder high lights. They look hideous. Bright white, straw like lumps of dry hideousness standing out in my otherwise fairly warm, soft hair.

I am currently 3000 miles away from home about to embark on a week of manic socialising and entertaining so cannot go back and ask my lovely hairdresser to fix this. Is there anything I can do to soften these highlights (in tone and texture). I am thinking some sort of toner or conditioner to wash though and make everything silkier/warmer but I don't know if such a thing actually exists. I am currently in North America with easy access to Duane Read/Walgreens.
